His batting line last year in Greenville and Portland was amazing and I'm confident that he'll be a really good major leaguer. But he still strikes out A LOT--30% in Greenville last year; the same in a very young 2024 season. No matter how hard he hits the ball, he's not going to carry a 400+ BABIP. He still has a lot of development to go. Opening day in 2025 seems overly optimistic. I'd be glad to be wrong. I think midyear 2025 is more realistic. Its not too hard to imagine a lot of mediocrity in 2024 and 2025 but eith the difference being we might see all 3 of Anthony, Mayer, and Teel getting their feet wet in the 2nd half of the 2025 season, kind of like how the back half of 1987 and 2015 went where youth started taking over.

I wouldn’t it put it past Anthony to push the issue for making the big league team in September if he keeps raking the way he is now. But agree on Mayer probably not coming up until sometime next year — he needs the reps after all the setbacks.

Maybe Anthony gets a cup of coffee but I dont think he gets a starting job right away in 25 but yes, there's definitely a non zero possibility that he does, but he's absolutely have to rake to the point the Sox think they have a rookie of the year candidate in 25 to start at the beginning of the year.

They don’t have the luxury of waiting till mid 25. They need to sell tickets and the kids fill immediate needs I’d be stunned if all 3 aren’t up by July 1 this year, just for the business part of it.

Been done like 4 times. I went off beat brandy by looking glass. Great cover of that one by RHCP on their Live from Hyde Park album. Not that the original isn't great either.

I would hope that's not how they decide things. If any of the Big 3 are smashing the door down, ok, but if they throw them to the wolves at the sacrifice of needed development time to get butts into the seats, and yes I get the fill the need part, that would be disappointing. I honestly dont think theyd resort to that, but at this point, who knows?

If he keeps hitting like he is, he could be up by August this year. I don't think that's likely, as I expect someone will adjust to him either in AA or AAA, but at the moment, he seems ready and could even immediately improve the big league club. All this talk of "what choice do they have" though as well as calling up the other bigger guns is silly. You're only going to call up guys who are either ready for a trial period OR who pretty obviously help the BoSox (hopefully both).
For Roman specifically though, I've looked into my crystal ball (which is cloudy, cracked, and was never very accurate) and I'm seeing him up full time by May 2025. Still, if he just keeps raking in the minors, it'll be a lot sooner than that.
