I'm going to the game in Salem tonight. I'll look to see if they are pitching around Cecchini and I can't wait to see Courtney Hawkins. I'm predicting he'll go 1 for 4 with a HR and 3 K's.

Pretty interesting (to me at least), Garin Cecchini's high school hitting coach was his mother. link

Do you think he heard a lot of "your mama is so sabermetric" jokes growing up? [In advance: I regret going here] Your mama is so sabermetric, she's always sheathing my SABR. A sad attempt, I know.

Find it some what unbelievable that I look forward to Anthony Ranaudo's turn as much as anyone. He sure looked like a lost cause, but man has he dominated this year. I thought Barnes would be spending some time in AAA in July. No, it will be Rauaudo and he could be POUNDING on the door in spring training next year along with Webster and De La Rosa.

Bogaerts hitting second... that is new, right?
But still, I've already got Xander penciled in for Player of the Week again.

Not really, he's been hitting second for a while now.

Wright with a nice start (3 IP, 1BB, 0H), Middlebrooks 1-1. Wright facing our old friend Lars "California League" Anderson, hitting a solid .200 for Charlotte.
EDIT: I forgot he had a great line in AA in 2008 too (.316/.436/.526) in 163 PAs in Portland.
Bogaerts careening towards a .300/.400/.500 line. Any thoughts if he's a streaky hitter in general, like Lavarnway has been at time? I feel like he's been pretty consistent, just started slow, is on a tear now... I don't expect him to have another month below .250 till AAA though.
"I can't wait to see Courtney Hawkins. I'm predicting he'll go 1 for 4 with a HR and 3 K's."
Well, he's got the HR already. Still waiting for the 3K. Augilera got shelled (7 ER in .1 IP).

I don't know why I thought he was hitting 3rd. I blame nothing but my own stupidity.

Nice of Ranaudo to give Xander a bit more incentive to hit. Way to be a team player.

On the other hand, everyone's favorite overreaction, Christian Vazquez, is 0-2 and down to .244 on the season. His K/BB rates haven't really changed a lot though, so it may be somewhat a BABIP effect as much as anything.

Had been .337/.439/.542, 14 BB, 12 K in his prior 99 PA's with a .368 babip after starting the year 0-for-16 with 4 BB. I'm not worried - slumps happen.

Hawkins just hit an Ogando 96 mph FB over the LF wall, just after getting some chin music. I don't think the ball has landed yet.

The last month he hit under .250... maybe early last year in Salem? Edit: July 2011, his second month in Greenville, he hit .207. He's never been under .250 before or since.
