I probably missed the report but Shaq Thompson has apparently given up baseball as he is not on the GCL roster.

Listed at six-foot six, one hundred eighty pounds. I knew that but he looks more like 6-foot five and a half and 174. LOL

Suarez in build looks like a typical catcher already.....going to be a big boy. Rijo...pretty small. Not sure whether the temp topped 200, but it sure seemed like it. Brutal. As the attendant noted, the GCL is not called the Gulf Roast League for nuthin'.

?@clearthebases #RedSox Veeps & GM assistants Allard Baird and Mike Hazen are watching the #SeaDogs tonight. Did I mention Anthony Ranaudo is pitching?

Minnich, Davies, and King are all players that should be in Lowell if not Greenville fairly quickly, right? They're all really old for that league.

If Ranaudo has an innings limit, when do we move him to the pen and promote him to Pawtucket? Have a hunch he's pitching big innings for the Bosox late in the year. Maybe not closer. But, like Paps in 05.

But, like Paps in 05. Ranaudo is such an interesting case. I saw him pitch 2-3 times last year and I was depressed rather than impressed. He topped out at 93 (mostly 90-92) when he was obviously trying to bust it and his control was awful...I thought that he would never make it. Suddenly this year he has re-surfaced and has been, for me, the biggest minor league surprise to date. Like Workman, I don't know whether he has another gear to help in relief. He certainly is tall enough to exert great leverage, but he looks like a starter type rather than one of those bulls that can amp it up for short stints (think RDLR). Who knows, maybe the brass is also there to assess whether to include Ranaudo in a trade for "some relief".

Don't have any idea what the future holds for these players. Adding on to the age both Minnich and Davies played in Lowell last season as well. Really hope to see these guys moved up soon, Minnich seemed like a player who could have Travis Shaw-like success to me.

With the Pawtucket rotation crowded, you think Ranaudo could just skip AAA and go straight to the majors? FB and curve seem major league ready, wonder if they let him work on his change up in the majors since he has been getting by without even having to use it in AA

Unless they're bringing him up to the pen I think you gotta give him the reps in AAA.I don't think his stuff iis so dominating that he looks like he can blow away advanced hitters.
