So nobody has the schedule? Any idea when it will be made public? I'm hoping to take in A LOT more games this year. Cespedes and Arias I can only confirm that my source, who will need the schedule even more than we do, doesn't have it yet either. Last year it was released about a month before games started. Thank you so much, sittingstill! That's all I needed. We are 3 weeks away from May 4 and you'd think the schedule has been created.

Seems at like they may just wait for Mayer and hope in 45ish games he tears up AA and just goes straight to mlb like many top prospects no need to waste time in AAA Not sure he will be ready then. Love the kid but he seemed slightly over-matched this Spring.

The bulk of Casas left on left improvement last year vs prior years was in the slugging department. A .456 L on L is nothing to sneeze at but if he continues that trajectory, he'd be scary. That homer was VERY impressive but I was also impressed with how he never "bailed". I firmly believe he will eventually be more than just fine hitting most lefties. I could say the same about Duran the game before. He torched two line-outs against a lefty. Other than his hair color reminding me of one of the Marx brothers, he has looked good.

Big Mookie fan but the Dodgers are playing with fire in the way they are using him. I wasn't sure about him playing full time at 2nd, but short? No way! He is too important for their success to play him there and hope he holds up physically.
I get it that Heyward in right is good defensively but his bat hasn't been good for years. Mookie may be the best right fielder in the game. It comes easy to him and doesn't seem to tax him much. The Dodgers may really regret this decision!
Surprised how thin the "Bums" are at 2nd and short!

There’s never been a scenario where 7 years was possible for him and I hope Jordan understands that. He’s just not even close to that guy. I say that as a guy whose been advocating for him all offseason Agree Big Time! My goodness I had no idea he was crazy to believe anyone would give him 7. Actually, giving him 5 would be somewhat of a problem for me. The longer he holds out the less desirable he is in my opinion. Boras and Monthy are smoking something pretty strong. At this point, a starting pitcher would have little chance of being ready to start the season.

Man Crawford looked good!
The secondary's were sharp.
He could really take it to another level this year!

I'm also looking forward to watching Franklin Arias.
This will be argued but Zanetello may be better off beginning in the FCL on May 4. I'd like him get his confidence up high and the warmer weather may also be a better way for him to begin his 1st full season.

Really interesting read, leaves me with thinking they have no choice but to start allocating more draft assets into pitching if they ever want to start having a good enough minor to MLB pitching pipeline. For sure. Excellent article!!!

I thought I read he was going to go about training differently and not bulk up as much. There are reasons he may be getting hurt more because of a lack of flexibility. He is one player I'm excited we got, but he looks as big as ever. This is a huge year for him with him being a free agent next winter. Looks like he is going with the same workout routines. If we are to have much success, this guy needs to have a big year!

WOW! Not sure how I feel about that. Good for the Dominican League kids. May be good for a few draftees from the year before who were not ready for Low A. I always loved see the new kids just drafted, if even for a few games.
I can see someone like Cespedes or Arias this year being on a faster track if looking ready for Low A.
I'm like a lot of you, I like little change. Maybe quite good for the International players.

I think I said 93 last year. Tempering expectations, going with 91. Internal improvement and we get another pitcher. I'm not quite that bullish but I do see them changing some minds. I believe they'll be close to 88 winds and possibly getting in the playoffs. A lot of it comes down to health. I've always been an O'Neil fan and believe Story will come back big. I also would like another starter and I would be surprised if they don't add one of Lorenzen, Ryu, or Clevinger. Soler would be nice but I think this bunch will surprise and score runs. Yeah...88!

[Commenting here on the other thread's discussion of Blaze as a top-10 1B prospect] Is the goal this year to show that Blaze can play a passable LF, particularly in the Fenway environment? He's the RH bat we'd love to have, but he's also blocked by Casas at first, and DH is a muddle for the foreseeable future, because of Yoshida. Matt Stairs got 17 games in left... why not Blaze? TOTALLY agree with this! I didn't understand not doing it some last year. He will never be a 3rd baseman. And as said, Casas, hopefully, will be our everyday 1st baseman for the next decade. Blaze is an interesting prospect because I thought he would hit for more power and less hit. Instead, it is the other way around, and I like that. He definitely has extreme power and he is one of guys I'm looking forward to taking a big leap this year. I won't be surprised if he hits, at least, 25 bombs this year. Defensively he will always be sub-par. So get him reps in left. He is so young and he could definitely be someone we are talking about a lot this upcoming season!

So with that news on Hader, Jansen may get some real interest. Like Hader a lot, but we were not in position to go that route.
This may be considered being too positive, but signing one of the 2 aces, in my opinion, would begin to make us dangerous. Baseball is very unpredictable and if we have a healthier season, we may surprise. Of course, several pins have to fall in the right direction.
I personally love our infield. I think we have, in O'Neil, a potential comeback player of the year. BUT, we need something that resembles and ACE, without being stupid and trading our top prospects.
Sign Monty and if you have to, sign Snell. Sign Duval on the cheap.

Assuming the Red Sox miss out on Imanaga/Snell/Montgomery, I don't understand why the Red Sox would trade for a top-of-the-rotation controllable SP. Most of us can agree that the team hasn't gotten markedly better thus far, and it seems unlikely that the next tier of free agents would move the needle much. Given the expected costs (big 3 +), why go after a Luzardo/Cease/Keller/Gilbert/Kirby? If there is an unwillingness to invest in a playoff or championship-caliber team, it doesn't make sense to give up a prospect haul now for somewhat limited “useful” control. If the timeline to compete is more like 2025 or 2026 (when Anthony/Mayer/Teel are expected to contribute), go get a controllable starter next offseason. I would understand if they wanted to go out and get someone they deem a bit of a project like Edward Cabrera or Michael Grove with mid-rotation potential to work with during a bridge year. But going "all out" on one of the aforementioned guys makes little sense given what we know right now. Impatience will make us wait even longer for the next great Red Sox team. Agree with this assessment totally. Even if one of those 3 do sign, we will have a ways to go. DON'T do something stupid and trade one of our top 3. Just don't do it!!

I'm finally on board. Breslow is not scared. Hopefully we keep seeing bold moves going forward. Sign Monty!!

Grissom is going to be plug and play. He is the 2b. I've read everyone's post, and I would think we should be celebrating. I bet when he settles into 2B, Grissom, will be fine...maybe even better than fine! Love his tools and how can anyone look at his performance in the minors and say he won't do well. The kid is bleeping 22 and has already been in the Show. 6 years of control!! Without a doubt, Breslow, will acquire another pitcher. I just hope he doesn't get crazy and send either of our top 3 prospects to get it done. Sign one of Imanaga or Montgomery. Mayer, Teel, and Anthony is the future. Don't be stupid. I like Breslow's moves so far, including picking up O'Neil.

Now that we have signed the innings eater for the rotation, i am once again asking for the red sox to trade for Edward Cabrera. I won't be surprised if Breslow is already thinking TRADE. We have extra outfielders. We have some young arms. Other stuff will start to happen!

What is the best hairstyle to hide sticky stuff in so Giolito can get his spin rate back up? Casas started the cornrows - maybe that can be a thing! One thing I like about this signing is he is healthy and a "horse". We certainly can use him pitching 175 innings. I love the signing. He is still young and HAS been dominate in the bug leagues. Yes, it would be nice to add another starter, but I'm looking forward to seeing what Bailey can do with him. I like it a lot!

Hypothetically speaking imagine the following is true: - Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell get 6/$160 offers from other teams that they prefer to Boston. Each go to Breslow and say I will sign with you guys if you go up to 7/$185. - Luzardo and Cease are available on the trade block and both teams ask for a package to be headlined by 1 one Casas/Bello. - Burnes and Bieber are available but each team asks for a package headlined by one of Mayer/Anthony. Both of them say they are committed to going to free agency and won't sign an extension. Would anyone do any of these? Or would you just go try and get Imanaga/Stroman/Giolito or a pitcher like Edward Cabrera?I have no problem with this route, but a moderate overpay for Montgomery or Snell wouldn't cost me much sleep at this point, either. Right! If Breslow over-reacts we will go wrong in the other direction. None of us are very patient right now...just sign Giolito and one the other two. Sign Whit! But most importantly, get a healthy year of development behind our top prospects. Sure it would be nice to be in the playoffs this season. I want 2024 to be the YEAR OF STRONG DEVELOPMENT. We then sign Soto away from the Yanks. 2025 looks good!!

Let's hope Breslow immediately moves on Plan B today. The Yamamoto news is sickening but hopefully he has this situation already lined up. He certainly has the ammunition to sign TWO starters rather quickly. Stay away from Snell and that qualifying offer if possible.

Burnes and Adamas. What does it take. Obviously more than the rays got. Would you include Mayer or Anthony? Would yorke and'2 of blais/ rafaella / duran be enough? Probably have to include some pitching gonzalez , whitlock , houck. How about yorke, Duran, Houck? And sign burnes for 8/200 ( or whatever. This is a different discussion) After hearing the terrible Yamamoto news, there will be many calls for trading for someone like Burnes. It is understandable, but in my opinion any trade should not have Mayer, Anthony, or Teel in it...period. I would much rather experience one more down year than do something so foolish. We have "managed" the organization poorly for several years. It has sickened me how a once powerful organization has fallen so far. Go after Burnes and work out a deal if you can but don't make a bad situation worse.
