In every video I see of Yorke, his hands look special and the ball seems to come off the bat very well. Certainly intriguing.
Hoping to read lots of good reports from instructs.

I'm intrigued by the pick and I like that 10 different evaluators got a look at the kid. They must have all been on board.

I'm stepping back from the edge a bit, they got an extremely good cost controlled asset in Verdugo and a power pitcher that at least some believe can turn a line up over 3 times. With a combined 11 yrs of control. A 17 yr old to dream on would have been a perfect throw in here though.

FWIW, I wouldn't put Graterol over Casas until he demonstrates the ability to flip a lineup 3 times in Double-A, Triple-A. With at least a 3-1 K/BB.

2 good players but despite the no leverage, the return feels thin.
FWIW, Verdugo should be a good fit for our unique RF.

As strange as it sounds I'll go with Casas. He had a big year in 2019 but I think there's another gear there. The slow start and seperated shoulder muted the numbers some. But in between, for about 2 months he really raked.
I think we see some upward trajectory on prospect lists this Summer. Nothing too crazy because he's limited to 1B.

Groome has to build his innings, hard to imagine him getting much past 100 this season. Maybe 50/50 with Greenville and Salem?

Cool idea, I remember at the time (2014-2015) Cubs > Red Sox pretty universally.

FWIW I got this on Twitter from the editor of Metsmerized Michael Mayer:
dude that has experience pitching in any role, throws a ton of different pitches from different angles. Would call him a "survivor" without any above average pitches. Merely depth.

Assuming Song is clear of his military obligation. Curious where he'd rank in the system?

I've heard rumblings for months about contraction but this is far more reaching then I think anyone anticipated.

Jeff Banister is in the running for the Pirates manager job and for a second I read that as Brian lol.

If you bring Mookie back and try for one more run and it's not working, flipping him at the deadline (especially if we pick up the remaining $$$) could net as big a return as flipping him this Winter.
Imagine if an NL Central team this year had picked up Mookie at the deadline, he could swing a race.

Groome vs Allen for all of the marbles would be a sexy matchup. Even if both were only going a couple of innings.
It sounds like Allen would be more likely in relief though.

It still irks me about Dombrowski not being able to build a farm. A. He built a beautiful system that led to Miami's 2nd WS when he was out the door. B. In Detroit the fucking owner was dying and demanded he win at all cost. Why would he care if prospect x would be awesome 10 years from now when he had only a few years of life left? He wanted to see a ring. Sadly, he didn't, but came very close a few times. C. The Red Sox gave him the same edict and this time, he delivered. You can't tell someone to win at all costs and then wonder why the farm is bad. That's talking out of both sides of your mouth. He has helped pick the farm back up. The farm is better this year. Most of his deals were wins anyways. Does anyone miss Espinosa (I have my problem with that deal, but it's still a win)? Does anyone miss Margot? Does anyone miss Basabe? Does anyone miss Dubon? Does anyone really miss Moncada (.815 OPS in 2nd half) or Kopech? He seemed to weed out the system correctly because it looks like the Red Sox might have had a farm full of over evaluated talent that is simply mediocre to bad. He hasn't been given the chance TO build a farm. I agree with most of this, I will say though I'm still bitter over the Anderson Espinoza trade. To me it's the equivalent of the Padres last year saying give me your #4 SP and here's Mackenzie Gore. Just because he blew his elbow out twice doesn't justify the value. He's was a universal top 25 prospect with #2 starter upside or more. To be fair, I also didn't care for the Kimbrell trade and was pro Margot in the Margot-Benny debate. And he still has seen a pitch he didn't like. But outside of Espi there wasn't anything too egregious IMO. And he certainty won more than he lost.

Talk about straight out of LF. He must have really run foul with Henry, folks like DD are typically allowed to resign, rather than straight up firing.
3 straight AL East titles and a WS. Cold business.

I watched a long at bat of his last night end in a line drive over the bullpen in RF. That was a missile. He's a grinder in there, sees a lot of pitches. The crouch is definitely less pronounced then in my April looks.

The Swihart move is shocking, it feels like I've been clamoring for 5 years, for him to get another shot back there. If for no other reason so we can get some offensive production from the position. This feels awfully fast and reactionary but maybe he really can't do the job. Or they just want the premium C defense but then why pick him to begin with???

I would hate to break up this outfield, it's so special defensively. This team is going to score a ton of runs and JBJ will get it going eventually.
