Not to mention that I teach 6th graders, so I'm used to going through a few hundred papers from people who think like an 11 year old.

Talk about having too much time on your hands - going back over posts to find posting patterns? Sad. We are all fans, we all have our views, we are all passionate, I suspect we use boards like this to share the joy, but also the frustrations. There is certainly lots of reasons for optimism on this team - but it has been a season loaded with frustration as well. Good to have a place to air it out. Citation Needed And you do realize it takes about 5 minutes to sift through a couple hundred posts that are mostly filled with "lol Farrell" "lol this team sux"

No negativity towards the Sox!! It's not that so much as it is that certain posters only come here to complain. When they're on a winning streak, these guys don't post a single time. Exactly. I don't mind negative posts towards the Sox. But when I check out someones posting history, go back a few hundred (no hyperbole, a few hundred) posts and don't find a single one that isn't them complaining about something then I really feel bad for how pathetic their life must be.

I don't even think he would have to be put on the 40 man roster. If the Sox send money to another team then that money automatically counts against the cap.

Prediction: If we end up trading for Bruce and Reed with the Mets taking enough salary to keep us under a cap, 99% of the posts will be complaining that the cost was too high (with most of them saying way too high)
I'd love to be wrong, obviously...

Reed and Bruce would put us over the cap, right? Can't see that happening if that's the case. It only takes the Mets to pay a little salary. Something that should be easily done. So this should be a non-issue. You're right, but that would cost more in prospect value. How much are we willing to give up?

So they should wait until the Sox are losing to bring him in? 'Cause I hate to break it to you, but Kimbrel won't be pitching in this game when the Sox are winning. Kimbrel pitches best when he is saving. Barnes has been lights out lately That's fine, but Kimbrel pitching in a tie game is always better than Kimbrel not pitching at all

See? Good things happen when Mookie hits third in an inning.

That's just crap luck....
But that's back to back games that we've given up a 3 run homer. Anyone know when the last time the Sox hit a 3 run homer?

40-man roster thoughts: At some point, Carson Smith and Roenis Elias (who just started a rehab assignment) will likely be coming off the 60-day DL, and we want to select Jalen Beeks. On the flip side, I think we all agree that Fister is worth a DFA, and Nunez plus the surprising competence of Marrero make Josh Rutledge expendable. And you don't really need four RHR at Pawtucket on the roster. Kyle Martin (whom I didn't think was worth protecting) would probably clear waivers, as might Noe Ramirez, and I don't think that losing one would seriously harm your depth. You already have, for four roster spots if you have two LHR in the pen, Barnes, Kelly, [Smith], Workman, Boyer, and Hembree. That's already a scenario where Smith has to wait until 9/1 and either Workman has to go back to AAA or you go with one LHR, if everyone's healthy. And should they lose Martin and then suffer a rash of injuries, there's Jamie Callahan, who's been great his last 5 weeks / 9 outings (13.1 11 4 4 4 18, 2.70, .567 OPS) and is a guy you'll be protecting anyway. Probably DFA Fister, Rutledge, N. Ramirez, Barnes, and Elias. Select Beeks and Witte, activate Smith. Then you have two more spots to trade for. But also make sure you don't burn an option on Beeks or Witte, we might want to use those later. I'd say that Martin probably has more potential than Callahan, who has a Four-A ceiling, but otherwise I agree with you. Who did you mean to say here instead?

I didn't say this was the worst thing in the history of the world. Although I'm sure it's close, what I actually said was that it was the first time in the history of the world that this type of thing has happened before. And as far as I know that is correct. After all, I have never once read an article about a player being rude to someone else on a plane. We're just lucky CHB had the guts and moral compass to shed light on it. Again with the sarcasm? This wasn't about a player not thanking the stewardess for not giving him his peanuts on time. CHB, who I can't stand by the way, doesn't have a story if it's not spoon fed to him, and it was spoon fed to him by others people it was so over the top. And if Price doesn't behave like that there is no story to spoon feed. But hey he wears a Red Sox uniform, so I guess it's cool. I don't know why you're questioning me. We're on the same page here. This is a completely unique story. Never in the history of the game has anyone had a story written about this type of behavior on a plane. And as I said earlier, now that we know everything there is to know about this story we can, and are obligated to, judge the people involved as harshly as possible.
