Reading the whole article leads me to believe he is a very high quality young man.

To be clear he looks to be in great shape. First time I’ve seen him so nothing to compare with but he looks solid and if he gained weight off season it appears to be of the muscular variety.

Just happened to catch him last week working out at 3rd at the major league field at the Fort. He was taking infield along with others including Yorke and Downs. Listed at 225 he said he reported at 237. He looks bionic..what you would you make a baseball player out of if you had your choice of parts. Other than that he seems to have good footwork around the bag and looked comfortable taking hard infield grounders. Didn’t see much else as game type action was limited to family and the media.

Seeing him pitch today was a joy. On one swing and miss the batter started his swing twice . Just like the old cartons.

Really enjoying the discussion and all the machinations. I take comfort from the Sox record of signing their top ten picks and the very capable Bloom captaining the ship. I doubt Fabian or Hickey would have been drafted without a good idea of their cost. The low dollar accounting moves would seem more indicative (IMHO) of gathering money for signing a prospect outside of the top ten.

Maybe a team background that didn’t look like a warehouse break area. After all this a big moment for these players and it may the be among the biggest for some.

Since this seems to be headed downhill. Vlad holds the record for the youngest Bllue Jay to homer in a game. Which Boston World Champion held the record prior to Vlad? Sorry Alex…

Bloom or bust choice. He fits the profile of what the GM is trying to do. Get a bunch of these types in your organization and give them superior coaching.

Seriously, why some fans do this s*#t on social medias? I know it is academic but he wasn’t traded for Benny but KC’s number 7 prospect. He wasn’t the primary piece to get said prospect but a secondary piece.

I'll make my guess: Mets 18YO OF Alex Ramirez. I agree. He fits the type that Bloom seems to like. 5 tool guy, if you hit, it is a 10 bagger.

Have no idea who it will be but basing my prediction on Bloom’s MO. Expect a high ceiling guy who has underachieved. Of course, the Sox think they know how to fix him. Bloom should be on Wall Street.

After listening to Bloom on the podcast there is little doubt imho that he is one sharp dude. He has a well analyzed rational on what Beni is worth and he’ll get it or keep him. No one one the Sox should feel Ike Delock secure. If he can obtain value he will make the deal.

And failing to re-sign him later (now) when you can afford to, and need him badly to make you an even better contender, and using the excuse that you wanted to stay under the tax limit when the reason you went under it last year was to go over it this year, and signing a white guy you needed less, instead ... that looks better, how? Were they expecting Blacks to achieve racial equality in the interim, so that no one would care anymore?
And this is probably not a good time to invite folks to make a list of theories that were "thrown out there quite a bit." Especially if the theory you're citing is, by your own assessment, is that super-smart people were being stupid.
As for Tomase, I can't recall reading anything by him that was remotely insightful.
JBJ is represented by Boras and, given where the CF market is right now, I would not be the least bit surprised if Boras threw out some ridiculous number like 4/$80 and is waiting out the market per his MO. JBJ also has a career .606 OPS in March/April so I'm guessing that Boras is pushing some warm weather team into believing that JBJ is a consistent all-star level hitter in a warmer environment. I'm not saying that's a true statement, but I'm sure it's one of the angles being played. I think the when/where/how much will say a lot about JBJ's camp and how realistic it really was to get him back. Edit: My point is that I don't think the Sox are being disingenuous when they have said and continue to say they want him back, but both sides have to want it to work and agree on price to make it happen. You forgot to mention that Boras will add that three other teams are offering 4 years/$80 million. Forgive the obscure Stephen Drew reference.
