A lot of over reacting the first 20 games but I knew we’d be fine once we go Refsnyder and Wong in the middle of the lineup.

I wonder what Devers would have gotten if he were a FA this past offseason. It was a perfect storm for him. Ownership still hearing about Betts and then Xander goes to SD they felt they needed to pay him or face the backlash of another big name leaving. Year 1 of 10 isn’t starting off great.

If the big 3 continue there good starts, and with all the prospects about to graduate, what are realistic rankings we can wxpect to see on the next updates? In think we will see Anthony and Mayer in lots of top 10s There was an article several weeks ago in The Athletic about where Laws top 50 prospects were starting the season and I think about 10 of them were in the majors. With graduations and hopefully good seasons from our guys you could be right.

Braves announce brace surgery for Strider so he’s done for 2024.

I go back and forth on this. We might could improve the lineup signing Tommy Pham for LF and moving Ceddanne to SS but is that better than a Dejoung type move? I have my doubts there will be an external option available this time of year but who knows. I think we make do until mid season and see where we are then.

Really hope this is something more short term in the 3-6 week range. Thinking out loud if it isn’t do we just try and trade for a defensive first option? Grissom has to stay at 2B, right?

Early on in the offseason it was said we were shying away from multi year deal with OFers bc of Ceddanne and Anthony on the way. I agree O Neil is a perfect righty fit for us and if we do resign him one of the lefty bats could be dealt for pitching.

Pivetta is in a weird spot though. He’ll get a QO that will limit the market somewhat and he just saw what happened to Snell and Montgomery the last 2 months. He might jump at an extension to stay with a team he knows.

Right now I’ll admit I’d be on the fence with Honeycutt but if he improves the k% going forward in ACC and tourney play I could change my mind. A prime Mike Cameron type would fit on about any team. That being said I’d guess there’s about a 75% we take a pitcher. I’m anxious to see how Caminiti does this spring.

MLB would love this to fall of the news radar but I think they will be forced to put him on the administrative leave while they open some sort of “investigation”. It might be one where it’s in name only but he’s one of the biggest stars on the planet it’s not going away. If the feds find evidence I could see a year suspension like some of the others sports have done lately.

I’d think Lorenzen would be a higher probability than Monty. Him or Clevinger.

Clemson’s Will Taylor with 3 HRs today. He turned down 1st round money a few years ago to play football and he could shoot up the boards now that he’s concentrating on baseball only.

Best case is we get to 90ish and sneak into the WC round with arrows pointing up for our younger guys in the lineup and some young pitchers show promise. Worst case for me is we are completely average, stuck in no man’s land at the deadline and can’t even capitalize on some expiring deals.

Never cared for his mound antics but he was a quality pitcher. Hopefully he can rebound as a 36 year old. Limited risk at 5 AAV and hopefully he’s lights out and hits every incentive.

I’m anxious to see how Beam performs. Joe Doyle had a good interview on him this week and if he’s a guy that could move quickly I’d be happy with him. I wonder if with our 1st we can try and save a million or so with a college arm then spend a little more on a HS arm in the 2nd.

I really like this one. He apparently went through a divorce during the all star break and had an ERA over 7.00 after it and being in three teams. He was much better before the break.
The FG Def metric is not impressed. My personal read is that if you’re not improving defense there, then don’t bother bringing in another bat-first guy. We’ve already got a bat-first platoon there. If you can’t find a real starting caliber 2B, pick up a glove-first backup and spend the rest of the money on pitching.
Kind of where I am. Somebody like his teammate Farmer could be a nice option for a semi platoon with Valdez.

Does anyone have a decent read on Poloncos D at 2B. DRS didn’t hate him last year but OAA he’s always below average. I know injuries could have played a part last season and he seemed like a different hitter after the break.

I think I could get behind a Hernandez signing. It would be an upgrade defensively in LF, provide another potential 30 HR bat and could help keep Yoshida fresh and hopefully put up his pre all star break numbers next year. I think the writing is on the wall that a LF signing would free up a potential Duran or Rafaela trade for a starter. They might could fetch a Cabrera or Rodgers from the Marlins or if the Mariners decide to deal a Woo or Miller to fill needs when they get out priced on the market.

I'd be fine with Montgomery/Giolito and a trade for a RHH second baseman (Polanco/Kim/Drury type). But I'm not getting my hopes up. I could even get behind an Imanaga and Giolito combo. Anxious to see what Bailey can do to improve things in house as well. I see a lot of posters bring up Gausman and he turned him back around in SF. He had an ERA approaching 6.00 the year before.
