I am very enthusiastic about those two. Hosmer will be great next year. Maybe Pham will be back. Would be two very low cost additions — which would allow huge spending elsewhere. Nothing not to like there. What do you mean by great for Hosmer?

I'm making the trip to take my grandson and son to see Sox play Royals in August. He's becoming an avid Sox fan. Does anyone know where Sox stay when they are in KC? Appreciate any help.

I believe Nimmo was running inside the first base box. Do they review all elements, if so, that could be rationale for the out call

Barnes is returning to Earth and it may be time to move him out of the closer role. Barnes has always been Barnes and there is no reason to think he will ever be anything else. He's good but has never thrived in high pressure situations and isn't what would be called a horse. He's a pitcher whose usage must be carefully managed because his efficiency drops off when he's not got sufficient rest. If Barnes ain't an MLB closer, every team must have a $14 million Mariano clone. Barnes is 16 for 19 Sox won 2 of 3 games with his blown saves. A blown save does not equal a loss

While Yorke was a surprise to the draft experts, Tim Corbin, Vanderbilt, said on the draft show that he rated Yorke as the top high school hitter that year and that Vanderbilt had tried extemely hard to recruit Yorke.

Question for posters: Is there a way to block or ignore the anti-Sox,mom's basement dwelling, social warrior trolls like unitspin who rejoice when Sox lose?

While I agree Barnes's usage needs to be closely monitored and he hasn't been particularly sharp in the game against the W.Sox or last night, I don't think last night should be cause for great concern. He clearly had the 1st batter struck out on the 3-2 pitch. The second hitter may have swung on the called checked swing and then blooped a single to right. Of course the HR was a no doubter. Out #3 was also scorched. He could use a day or 2.off

Don't let the lucky home run make you forget the fact that Cora lacks the spine to drop JD Martinez in the order. Chris with this start for thr team who would you bat in front of him. Not arguing just curious

Actually we're 5.5 games behind the Yankees, only 2 out of the 8th place wild card in the expanded playoffs.

He's out of options, I seriously doubt he makes the team out of spring training or is serious competition to Johnson, Hernandez or Taylor. I think it's depth, not competition. According to Fangraphs Osich has 1 option left.

Heyman on a radio station in Chicago named Hoyer and Sawdeye as two of the people at the top of Red Sox search list. The Chicago radio thought Hoyer would stay put.Abraham pointed to the announced restructuring as evidence the Sox would stay inside for the head of baseball operations.
No one knows.

How many games has the bullpen lost us this year? 31? That's a bit simplistic since 3/5 games are bullpen games.

Drellich suggests that ownership was not sold on Sale in spring training and Dombrowski forced the issue and didnt handle it well. I feel like Jimed hearing crap like that! The owner is his Boss, he only had to say nope let's see him play. Heck how would DD even start the talks without ownership okaying it? You don't just talk massive extensions like that without ownership saying go forward. Once again just throwing the guy under the bus after you fire him. You want to move on fine, but it should have been thanking DD for everything he did, we just needed a new course. Not this crap! I agree. It's sad that you can't get traded or fired in Boston without the your character being assasinated.

Resorting to caling Porcello names is baseless, unwarranted and classless. Porcello has been praised as one of the leaders of the pitching staff and the team since his arrival. Everyone who has had contact with Porcello has extolled his work ethic, leadership and being a great teammate. Despite not having his best stuff this year he's taken the ball and given the Sox everything he had.

You have to feel for this bullpen. In this series alone the bullpen will pitch 11,9 and at least 7 inningstoday. Even with an expanded bullpen these guys have to be gassed.

Everyone's just going to forget that he can play third? Consider that everyone in baseball is looking at the same stuff you're looking at. Getting less reps at a position when you're being used primarily at another position, hurts or helps value? Ask Swihart this question. In today's baseball with shorter benches, increasing a player's versatility actually adds value.
