Not inspired by the Bs tonight. Sloppy, often slow - overpassing. Turnovers. Not ready for the playoffs yet. Back to back on the road the night after maybe their biggest win of the year. Little disappointed they lost, but not a game to make big pronouncements of doom over.

Bennet gave Lindholm no choice as Bennet challenged his manhood for several minutes before the fight and the ref is right there, and somehow no extra penalty for instigating or roughing. Later they called a phantom slash against Beecher where he made no contact with anyone. It makes no sense but it truly feels like the league has a vendetta against the B's and yes that makes no sense, but still seems true none the less. So, I was only able to listen until the end (saw the winning goal, so that was cool) so this is based on what I heard. But the radio guys were kind fo going nuts about the sequence in the 3rd. There was a penalty on what of their guys for slashing McAvoy. The broadcasts went to commercial and when they came back the announcers were talking about how Florida's coaches and bench were screaming about the call the whole time. Well, 20 seconds later they pull a total phantom interference call on Marchand and the PP is wiped out. As they said, it was basically a "make up call" for a call that didn't need to be made up for. This is the kind of thing I've been harping on all year. The Bruins constantly get screwed and just sit back and do the "aw shucks, that's unfortunate" thing while teams like Florida work the refs like crazy. You can see it there- They stole an extra penalty just by biting about about a legit call (and in a game where it seemed they had gotten better calls to start with) while we basically give the green light to keep screwing us because if we're not complaining about it, the instant is the calls against us must be okay.

Do I need to say anything about the refs, or did we all see that BS? To make what to me should be an automatic suspension of the ref was compounded when he called the penalty against Marchand. Like a caught but hurt thief doubling down on his obvious untrue claim of innocence. I'm ashamed for that ref that is how bad that was. It brings the whole league down to employ ass hats like that. And the Flyer throwing potenially career ending knees must be suspended. Marchand a few weeks ago took a cross check to his neck and no call. Does he have to be decapitated to get a call? Yes, he probably does. To not give a guy a little leeway when he's just been clearly hurt on a missed call and to not give him a warning before calling him for unsportsmanlike is just crazy. That's an obvious call, it's the guy who has the puck so you're looking right at him. And it's the kind of play that ends players' seasons, even careers. Refs make mistakes, that's understandable, but not calling that is frankly kind of unforgivable. To then basically decide to compound the mistake, in effect refusing to admit your mistake and trying to further punish the team you just screwed, as well as the player who just got hurt, that really is the kind of thing the league needs to do something about. But Montgomery just watched out with his arms crossed, so I guess not everyone was concerned about it.

I am ready to start embracing conspiracy theories. It is so ridiculous how they justified invent ways to screw the Bruins on these plays every time. Hanlon's Razor tells us to never attribute to malice what might be explained by stupidity. I'd suppose there is a near cousin that exchanges "incompetence" for "stupidity"? Yeah, no. That ignores all the context that I'm talking about. Hate to repeat myself, but when our guy brushes a Goalie the answer is "contact with Goalie, No goal" and when it's our G being hit it's "didn't significantly impede his ability to make play" That's not incompetence or stupidity when they use one set of standards against us and a different one for us.

Anyone notice the past 4 games the B's have only allowed 1 goal each game during regulation? Yes. Until you just jinxed it.

These aren't multiple reports of an Ullmark trade, btw. It is multiple people reacting to the Weekes story. I'm not saying he's wrong, but no one else really has confirmed it.
Be curious what the return would have been. People are speculating that it was Lub-Dubois, but that seems unlikely.
Seems like NJ was interested too. Their GM talking about being "extorted" for a G seems like it means Sweeney was asking for a lot.
If we were to deal him to a team on his No Trad list, it really seems like it would have to be wrapped at least a few days before the deadline. Te way to get him to waive was probably a contract extension and that kind of thing isn't happening on deadline day.

Maroon is fine. Doesn't move needle really, but adds a bit of toughness etc. Didn't cost much. Fine move.
The Peeke deal is absolutely baffling. He barely plays for a bad team largely because he's been bad. The Athletic posted his advanced stat numbers and they are some of the worst in the league. He's a RHD, which the team didn't have a need for. Signed for two more years, we just basically gave up 10% of the cap space we had to work with in the offseason. And it cost us a 3rd.
That's like an F+ trade. I can't wrap my head around it at all. Some promise for sure, but his trade value was a negative, not a guy you're giving up draft capital to acquire.

More rumors of that 3 way with Pitt/Van swirling Seems less likely today. Talk of Guentzel going elsewhere.

Keep losing games because we can't win a face-off in the D zone at crucial times. Meanwhile, the best guy we have at it is in Providence because Montgomery doesn't like him for some reason.

Don't know if you guys are following these rumors. Supposedly Vancouver is looking to acquire Genteel and move Lindholm, with rumors that he could be coming here.
Crazy.

Honest to goodness, and you don't have to believe me, but I am not someone who buys into conspiracy theories and cries about officiating all the time. On my football team's message board I have any enemies for laughing at that kind of talk. But, seriously, is someone asking the league exactly WHAT is going on with the Bruins and the refs, in particular the goalie interference calls? These calls are made by the same people in the league office every game, so it's not like it can be chalked up to different refs calling things differently. If we remember, there was that stretch earlier in the season (and I don't remember the specific players or teams at this point) where these two happened: - one of or guys bashed a Goalie a few seconds before a goal scored on the other side of the net and they reviewed it and basically said "touched the Goalie, no goal" - a few games later, our G was collided with as a goal was cored and they came back and said "Goalie not significantly impeded, goal stands" Now, both calls were clearly wrong. But somehow the same officials thought in one game that any contact negated a goal and in the other that were needed to be indisputable proof that hitting the Goalie is what stopped him from from making the save. Two completely different standards, whatever goes against the B's is what they're going with. Then we have this one: www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/bruins-pastrnak-has-goal-overturned-after-kings-challenge-for-goaltender-interference/B's player bumped into Goalie is somehow counted as interference against Bruins. Then this one The refs invent a new rule where you can slash a G when he is out of the crease. And let's just ignore that you have to be legally blind to think Swayman IS out of the crease anyway. Again, not hearing that the Bruins organization is raising a major stunk about this stuff is beyond frustrating. You just let yourself get repeatedly screwed like this, its going to keep happening. And it'll cost us at a crucial time. Just watch. League office is in Toronto, Toronto is trying to catch Boston in the standings. It’s that simple to me. You’d imagine the people who work in the league office live in Toronto, they might they think they don’t have inherent bias but when they’re microanalyzing a replay for 10 min to invent a reason to not allow the bruins goal then it raises questions with me We know they do game management, that’s confirmed. If they admit to doing that then playoff race management ain’t a stretch The second the replay went longer than 30 seconds last night I knew they were desperately searching for any possible way to disallow the goal. Thats disgusting that I knew what was coming. Broken league, broken system. That’s why at best it will be America’s 5th most popular sport in the near future. They can’t get out of their own way. Last nights wasn't even THAT bad, in a vacuum. It was wrong, but not outrageous as some of the others. But it was just so obvious they were going to go against Boston it wasn't even funny. Like I literally didn't react to the goal because I could see there was a chance of a challenge and once the refs started milling about I was like 'yep, here it comes" I legit laughed at the announcers for being shocked Seattle would risk a PP and challenge there because they thought there was no way it would be overturned. I was chuckling and muttering to myself "man, you guys are in for a surprise" because there was just no way they weren't going to screw us.

How do you call a BS penalty like that with just over 2 minutes left in a tie game, for a team that has an 8-2 edge in PP time?
"Even out the calls" and "don't decide a game with a late penalty" are things the refs seem to believe in only when it screws us.

If the reversal of that goal surprised you, you really haven't been paying attention.
Right after their 6th skater on the ice played a puck and not too many men called.

So Forbort missed a meeting and got himself benched. The whole left side on defense is getting a lot of my ire these days.
Except Lohrei, who has looked amazing since he came back up.
