Bogaerts with a solid at bat ending in a single against an impressive looking Noah Syndergaard. Can't help but be a little jealous of the Mets pitching after seeing Syndergaard and Rafael Montero impress in their one inning stints.

Bogaerts will face Ranaudo next inning. Bogey put a real nice swing on the ball collecting his second up-the-middle single of the day. EDIT: Of note, both hits were with 2 strikes.

Don't love what I'm seeing from Ranaudo. 92-93 with the fastball. Topping out at 94. Fairly strait and very poor command. Curveball has good bite, but he left it up in the zone. Changeup was 85 and not close to the zone.
I can see him being effective if his stuff is down in the zone, but its not overpowering by any stretch.
(Right after I wrote this he threw three very good pitches to Urrutia (FB, CB, CB) all down in the zone to get the ground out.)

Not a good appearance from Ranaudo at all. Looked pretty off, especially commanding his fastball.
That was a pretty all-around play on the sac fly Bogaerts scored on. Joc Pederson has a cannon.

Ranaudo really not very impressive. The fastball was 92-93 with good downhill plane and effective down in the zone. The curve was inconsistent and at it's best wasn't a true "killer". He threw 2 supposed change-ups that I think were actually curves that didn't turn over and missed high and well out of the strike zone.
On another note, Bogaerts showed his advanced baseball acumen with great slide at home to score a run on a sac fly.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to Renaudo's performance. He may not have been warmed up enough coming out of the pen. Starters usually take awhile longer to warm up. He looked better as the inning wore on.

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into these games ... I remember Joba Chamberlin looking fantastic and Clay Buchholz looking kinda ok one Futures game of the past. Guys in unfamiliar situations, etc, etc. Altho, to be fair, Joba looked pretty good when he first came up, especially as a reliever, iirc.
It may be a minor argument against turning Ranaudo into a reliever this year, though.

I also think Ranaudo was rattled a bit by the HR, knowing he had only 1 inning to impress. For what it's worth, it was not a bad pitch the was hit out.

Cecchini gave that pitch a ride to the left-center warning track. Really nice swing.

De Paula's delivery is really weird. He stop in the middle of it when pitching from the windup, and he looks like he is throwing too much with his arm, not enough with his body.

Its not just the warming up process but also the muscular endurance.

I love watching Cecchini swing the bat. We know he has a good enough approach to sit back and wait for his pitch, but he hasn't had to this game. In his first AB he took an outside pitch the opposite way to the warning track. This time he laced an inside pitch to right for the double.

Regardless of the outcome. Fine, fine game by both Bogey and cecchini. 2-3 and the walk just now for Bogey and 1-2 with that loud out for cecchini. Totally outstanding day for those 2 at least.

Ranaudo's change was for show only. He doesn't look like he is going to make it without it. At least as more than a #5. Maybe it was just a bad day but he left both of those changeups up high.
Bogaerts looked safe to me on that steal and he does look like his approach is solid. He could benefit from more time but he looks poised for another breakout.
Cechinni's hit was against an A baller but he does look like he has a great swing. The guy looks like a major leaguer. Overall a great day for our prospects.

Not for nothing but Cecchini was in A ball 2 weeks ago.
X man's slide was big league stuff. Unreal great job the announcers gushed all over him. It was almost like we only had one guy in this game.

In reference to above posts and Bogey's outstanding play (once again).. I'd love to see the Sox FO get him playing 3b more than just 1 game a week. Logic dictates that he's the "fix" there and probably before September. Team him with Iglesias, Drew can sit, get moved to another team etc..
I see in another month (or less) him being ready to play 3b FT if he is given ample time there at Pawtucket beforehand.
