FYI, Kalish is supposed to be ready for ST. This is what? The third ST we've said that, right?

How many options does Ruby have left?
He was added to the 40 in aay 2011 and not optioned that year. He blew out his arm and was DLed.
In 2012, he was placed on the 60 day DL until August 25th, when he was optioned. But that option would have been rescinded as he wasn't in the minors for 20 days (the minor league year ended prior to then). [Correct me if I'm wrong.]
In 2013 he was optioned.
So, I count only one option used, no?
(Perhaps this was already discussed? His SP page says all three options were used.)

FYI, Kalish is supposed to be ready for ST. Not sure how happy Ryan is with Boston's medical staff. If he gets DFA'd, I'm guessing he splits. The front office not only did a great job of building this year's team. They also have most of next year's team in place. Got a little lucky at shortstop with Xander pushing the envelope and being big league ready next year. Napoli and Salty seem to be reasonable answers to the questions at catcher and first base. Not sure what we do about CF. Guessing Ells will bolt for greener pastures.

FYI, Kalish is supposed to be ready for ST. Really? Excellent news. You can assume no room for an extra, upside reliever, then. If they protect any of Beato, Kurcz, Almanzar, etc., then it tells you that they're either planning on trading Morales, or see Holt as the MLB backup MI.

But yeah, point of getting the surgery on his neck in August was to have him ready for the start of ST. This is a nickname from the heart. From about 2-5 years old old I ran into everything in our house, neighborhood and playground. Was going to the hospital all the time. My cousins nicknamed me"Magoo". He just goes around runs into stuff. I was terrified by women wearing white(always thought they were nurses) for a while according to my parents. Good luck Ryan. I'm 51 and have prob been the hospital 2-3 times in the last 35 years. Other than appointments Good health to ya!

Here is my 40-man roster for 2014, as of 9/27. There are currently 45 guys on the 40-man, with 5 on the 60-day DL:
Non-tenders: Bailey, Villarrel
DFA: Beato, Butler, McDonald, Snyder, Hassan
Departing FA: Thornton (option not picked up), Hanrahan, Drew, Ellsbury (Would love to keep, but price will probably be too high)
That brings it down to 34.
Cecchini, Brentz, and Ranaudo are locks to be added. 37 now.
Bring Napoli back on a 1-year deal. Sign Brenden Ryan as a utility infielder. Sign either Edward Mujica or Jesse Crain as a set-up man. This leaves one 40-man roster spot up for grabs in spring training.
Starting pitchers: 1. Buchholz 2. Dempster (Could move to the bullpen) 3. Doubront 4. Lackey 5. Lester 6. Peavy 7. Webster 8. Workman 9. Wright 10. Ranaudo
Relievers: 11. Breslow 12. Britton 13. De La Rosa (Could return to starting) 14. Miller 15. Morales 16. Tazawa 17. Uehara 18. Wilson 19. Either Edward Mujica or Jesse Crain
Catchers: 20. Lavarnway 21. Saltalamacchia 22. Ross 23. Vazquez
Infielders: 24. Bogaerts 25. Holt 26. Middlebrooks 27. Napoli 28. Pedroia 29. Cecchini 30. Ryan
Outfielders: 31. Berry 32. Bradley Jr. 33. Carp 34. Gomes 35. Brentz 36. Kalish 37. Nava 38. Victorino
DH: 39. Ortiz
Last spot is up for grabs in spring training.
This is must my idea of the 40-man. It is by no means in stone, as there could be trades and other acquisitions awaiting this off-season. There are a bunch of players whom I WOULDN'T trade, but that belongs on another thread.
