I cleared my cookies recently and now whenever I visit this forum I need to click the "Login" link to log into my account. Specifically I get this every time I leave and come back:
It saves my account info so that I just need to click the "Login" link but the extra step is a little maddening. I played around with settings and did the google thing but haven't figured it out. Anyone have any tips for this?

Another one here. Google Chrome user. I don't have the same problem with Chrome for Android, though.

Are you guys checking "remember me" when you log in so that you get a new cookie?

Yep. I think clicking "remember me" allows you to quickly log in w/o reentering account info by clicking the "login" link.
FWIW, I don't think its the browser. I run Chrome, but also tried Safari.

Yeah, "remember me" doesn't help. I use safari on a mac.

I have the same issue on both Chrome and Firefox.
The only way I know around it is posting using my phone.

Can somebody check ProBoards Support? support.proboards.com/All I do for tech problems is go right to them and than report back. They're usually really good, especially when it's a common issue. The issue might already be posted and solved there. I won't have time to check with them today.

One thing to try: Make sure your bookmarks (if you have bookmarks) are going to the right URL: forum.soxprospects.com.
If that doesn't fix it, let me know the following:
1) How long you've been having the problem (relevant: did the problem start like it did with rangoon, when he cleared his cookies?) 2) When are you logged out? Each new browser session? Each time you leave the forum and come back, even during the same browser session? Only each time you restart your computer? 3) Browsers you've tried with (if you have more than one, please try on all available browsers), and OS 4) Are you using private/incognito browsing (dumb question, but they're going to ask me this and I want to make sure) 5) You're not using any extensions or anything that clear your cookies every time, right?
I'll check on this today.

I used to have this problem when I used a different url (soxprospects.proboards.com). I think if you use forum.soxpropects.com it will fix it.

I used to have this problem when I used a different url (soxprospects.proboards.com). I think if you use forum.soxpropects.com it will fix it. Ah, this totally worked (but in reverse). I usually check the forum through the main site by clicking the "Forum" link at the top. This brings you to forum.soxprospects.com where I am always asked to log in. I just tried soxprospects.proboards.com and I was already logged in. Awesome, thanks!

I also noticed that whenever I log in, the url changes to soxprospects.proboards.com regardless of where I start. I feel like that did not used to be the case, prior to the issues of the last few weeks, but I could be wrong.

I've never experienced anything else.
I get the Login request no matter which URL I use (edit: didn't read the whole thread carefully, the proboards URL does work). In fact, I can be logged in on one tab in Firefox, open up another tab, and I won't be logged in on that tab. And yet clearly there's a cookie, because clicking "Login" logs me in.
My problem is that I usually access SP to check other stuff and then go to the forums. I suppose I could bookmark the proboards URL, but SP comes up as an image on my new tab and I click on that, which is much quicker -- and the associated URL is the main SP one.

OK, this is ridiculous: while logged in, I clicked on the "All-Star Polls are now up in the Meta Forum" link in the main forum, and it opened up the Meta Forum in a new tab as expected ... only I was not logged in on this tab.
Every other comparable website I use looks for the cookie as soon as you go there, and logs you in. Why doesn't proboards?

This all worked fine on my machine until I had some unrelated difficulties and had to reload my OS. I lost all history and caching etc. Now I'm prompted to login whenever I go to the forum. It's not a big deal for me because all I need to do is to click "login" and it remembers who I am and logs me in without my having to re-enter my credentials. However, I was fiddling around with it to see if there was a way to make it work properly and I found one. The issue, at least on my PC, seems to be that the "Forum" link on soxprospects.com produces the URL forum.soxprospects.com. This sees me as not logged in. OTOH if I key in soxprospects.proboards.com, it knows who I am immediately. I'm no expert in this but it seems a fix might be to change the "Forums" link to the latter URL. Edit: one more thing. When I use the forum.soxprospects.com URL and then click login to make it work, the URL gets switched to soxprospects.proboards.com. Further evidence I think that the URL is the culprit.

I urge people experiencing the problem to contact ProBoards support. They are really pretty good and responsive. It's difficult for me to contact them without being able to recreate the problem in front of me.

And I'll add this info because I think that it'll help people explain the problem to support: soxprospects.proboards.com is the default URL for the forum. forum.soxprospects.com is a custom one we use to keep the various URLs that make up the website in full somewhat uniform. For myself, I bookmark forum.soxprospects.com, and it works fine for me. I'm using Chrome on OSX. But I've also never had issues with Chrome on my house's PC running Windows 7.

Thanks, Chris. This isn't a big issue for me since it takes only one click to get around it, but I'm going to report it on the ProBoards forum at some point today just cuz it doesn't work the way it should.
BTW, I use Chrome in Win 8 but I verified yesterday that it does the same thing with IE.

Now that my little OCD brain has focused on this, I have a question for others experiencing the problem.
When I click on "Forum" and go to soxprospects.forum.com, I'm not logged in. However if I click "login", it logs me in immediately without requiring me to re-enter my ID or password.
Is this what others experience or does it make you go through the whole process? I'd like to know this in case it comes up in discussions with ProBoards Support.
Thanks.

ProBoards suggested a solution to DD. I just followed through. Test it out for the next couple days ... make sure to CTRL-ALT refresh to clear out the cache first.
