One of the things I've been wondering, and haven't really seen anything on, is how good Betts arm is, and if he could be a move to RF down the road. He was drafted as a short stop, so one assumes he has a relatively strong arm, but I haven't seen anything in his scouting reports here on the site to confirm nor deny if it could play in the outfield, right specifically. Potentially, Bradley may have the arm to be able to move to RF and Betts to CF, but these are problems for another day - though I'd be interested to know that about Betts arm. I think he has around average strength. In right, it would probably be pretty limited but not unplayable. I don't think you'd see him throwing strikes to home. Often when you see middle infielders move to the outfield, you see them go to left (or center) instead of right because they don't have that rocket arm. Of course, you wouldn't want to waste Mookie's speed in left, but you may have to if you're planning on keeping him around. As I've said before, JBJ's defensive potential in CF is so good that I wouldn't move him to a corner to accommodate many people going forward, so unless Mookie becomes a top-notch CF, I don't see that happening.

I think Betts could play CF down the road. Im hopeful Devers or Denney could make the move to 1st in the future. Devers looks like he could be the real deal with a lot of hard work.

There are no 1B/DH prospects because that puts way too much pressure on bats. However there are tons of those guys available in free agency every year. Hell, the Yankees have like 5 of them.
There is no such thing as replacing Papi though. We're going to have to learn to live without him and I will hate that day.

Given the rate of decline that Ortiz has shown, he might only be around another five to ten years. Seriously, I know what you mean though. I remember a time the Sox were trading good young lefties like John Tudor to get a DH bat like Mike Easler. With Ortiz, you never had to worry about it. Instant offense you can count on. Just hope he stays healthy to give them a few more good years. Then the Sox will have to resort to finding decent DHs or rotating guys around to get rest at the DH spot. There's only one Big Papi, and I'll miss him a ton when he goes.

Insurance for Papi??
He could save 15% in 15 minutes if he switched to the Gecko. And maybe save even more if he bundled his auto and homeowner's policies. Now THAT's progressive. And so is DH by committee.
