Ruby is flying under the radar and he may have the highest ceiling of all our prospects. At least some of it is because he's not a prospect by definition so can't be on any lists, but he's a prospect in every sense of the word. Definitely flying under the radar especially considering he showed some mild success in the majors in a SSS back in 2011. Has shown great stuff and an ability to get major leaguers out, could really be a factor at some point this year. His last five healthy starts with the Dodgers (excluding the one before he went on the DL to get TJ surgery), 2.75 FIP (31 IP, 27 K, 9 UBB, 1 HR), 2.03 ERA, 126 BFP, .211 / .280 / .307 allowed. I would call that more than "mild." He had a 52.8% GB% in those games. He's at 77.8% this year (21 GB, 6 in the air), so that may be a new skill.

To me it's a tossup as to next April's #1. Assuming Bogaerts, Webster, Bradley, Workman are not elligible I think any of Swihart, Cechinni, Betts or Owens could be the #1. And if anything, Betts is already towards the top of that list so far to me. Good defense. Speed. Pop. Attitude. Hitting approach. Base stealing. Positional value. He seems like the total package and in the transition to AA ball so far he hasn't slowed up a nanosecond. He's the ever ready battery of baseball players. He's always full power. A lot of speed oriented players have to learn to drive the ball when they get to the majors; i.e. Ellsbury...etc. Betts is already driving the ball all over the place, hitting for high average and very high OBP. Personally, I don't think it is much of a toss up. Henry Owens is distancing himself from the crowd as we speak.
