Mookie vs. lefties this season 40 PA 0.500/0.575/0.735/1.310 5 2B 1 HR 6 BB 2 K Mookie has almost twice as many total bases (35, if you include walks and stolen bases) than outs made (18) versus LHP. Just absurd.

LOL, 3-2 HR to left.
First time I've seen Augliera, he's a big boy. Not sure why his K's are low on the year, he's getting a lot of swing and misses.
Mookie just made a Pedroia like diving stop to the first base side and fast up to throw out a runner.
The Phils catcher is huge. If you hollowed him out, Mookie could probably fit into one of his legs.
2nd AB, Mookie grounded out to the SS hole, I think it was another full count.
Phils first hit was a perfect bunt by a fast guy. Augliera has a nice move to first and is quick to the plate.
Augliera with a lot of pitches in the fourth. (No pitch count today). 1-1 but I'm pretty sure that if Marrero was at SS instead of Gibson, they wouldn't have scored.
3rd AB Mookie grounded weakly into a double play to 2B 0-1 count.
Minor League baseball. Gotta love it. They've got fairies with big toothbrushes to clean off the bases between innings.
The wheels are falling off a bit in the 6th for Augliera but from about the middle of the second until now he seemed to not have a punch out pitch that was working for him. Milner isn't fast but tonight he's been locating his fastball in and out nicely. Even Mookie's HR wasn't a mistake pitch.
Ramos is 2-2 with a HR (to left) and a walk. He's batting righty.
Mookie grounded out to the right side against a righty. He's been -BABIPed tonight. On the other hand, he's been hitting a lot more grounders the last couple weeks than the first couple weeks.
Valdez is giving up a lot of solid contact.
Ramos perfect, 3/3 with a BB and 2 Home runs. Both hit to left field, one from the left side, one from the right.
Shaw with an 0fer.

Sickels: www.minorleagueball.com/2014/5/7/5634154/2014-farm-system-rankings"THE ELITE: These organizations clearly rank as the top group for me, though you could quibble about the exact placements. 1) Minnesota Twins: This system has everything you want: high-end impact talent like Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano, and Alex Meyer, plus considerable depth backing them up and other prospects who could break through as big names in the next year (Kohl Stewart, Lewis Thorpe). There’s pitching and hitting and just a good general balance of tools, upside, and polish. 2) Boston Red Sox: Like the Twins, the Red Sox have just about everything and have shown the ability to find talent from many different sources. I think they are a little stronger in hitting and a little weaker in upside pitching than the Twins. Graduations here could move them down a little next year."

Ramos goes deep for his first homer of the year. 2/2, HR, BB
4th multi-hit game in the last five games.

Now that his first is out of the way, Ramos wastes no time for homer #2

I hereby declare that Portland,ME be officially renamed Mookie Town. That would help clarify any Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon confusion

Also, I can't believe that Mookie hits a homer today, yet I'm worried because his average is dipping to the 2*(Mendoza) line....

Anyone think the Sox may give Austin Maddox a look at 1b/DH if his struggles continue over the next couple of months? He had that great freshman year (.333/17 hrs) at Florida with the bat but tailed off after that as he became a key bullpen guy and when he did play he shifted around the field quite a bit. I remember he was a highly regarded HS catcher in his draft year, was it just Zunino's presence that blocked him from developing as a catcher?

His peripherals don't look too bad with more than 5K/BB and a decent ground ball rate. 4 home runs are a lot in 17 IP.

Ramos had a great ten games, and I posted the line and he immediately went 0/4. But his subsequent two games have been right back at it, and then some (5/7, 2 HR, BB).
He's now .442 / .473 / .692 in 55 PA over 13 games.
Meanwhile, Travis Shaw, in his quest to make the BA Hot Sheet, is .440 / .500 / .760 in 28 PA (despite going 1/8 the last two days), with one game left in BA's week.

I have followed Ramos, mainly because of his athletic skills. Want to see if they translate into baseball skills. He has gone into streaks and it seemed like he was pulling, oily to go back. But this time he has been more consistent, so far anyway, but let's see if he continues.

But this time he has been more consistent, so far anyway, but let's see if he continues. When you watch him, his athleticism is obvious on both sides of the ball. He has a nice smooth swing from both sides of he plate and doesn't seem to over swing, he's not trying to hit 500 foot home runs. In the field, he's got the tools to be a right fielder, even in Fenway. His bat isn't all that fast but he does generate power from his frame. I think his situation is obvious, he's still learning. Look at his peripherals, they are spot on, he needs to increase his pitch recognition and plate discipline skills. He's just as likely to swing at a pitchers pitch as he is to a meatball down the middle of the plate. In that area he's still towards the raw side. That step is obviously the next one in his development and it's one that not all players are able to accomplish. From everything I've read in terms of his character, if he fails doing that, it won't be because he didn't try or didn't listen to the coaches. I expect that to be the focus of his 2014.

Cuevas Gold I really don't know much about Jantzen Witte except that he's 24 in Low A and doesn't have much of a pro track record. He's mashing with power though and he now leads the Drive in ave. Red Sox Stats ?@redsoxstats 19m Nava has struck out in 35% of his PA since being sent to Pawtucket.
