Buchholz is missing high and to his arm side pretty much every single pitch. The Braves hitters couldn't square anything up early; hopefully Clay improves his control at least a little bit the next time through the order.

How many organizations would gladly trade our entire system for theirs? 20? 25? More? Come on. The comparison game can be senseless. The question is what prospects can help this team? Do we have any outfielders, any pitchers that are ready, a catcher, third baseman ( other than X-Man and can't take Cecchini seriously ) . We get too excited too quickly and tend to overrate many prospects. SO prospect sites like BA are not truthful then?

Thanks for letting me know, I was listening to the Barves broadcast but switched now.

Let's convert Clay to an outfielder, the pitching experiment is over.

Buchholz looked pretty damn good there. That should be worth a month of "Buchholz PH" jokes that are semi-serious.

I read it all the way through I was just wondering if you thought there would be a difference with .400 and the non essential pieces part. Maybe a mini firesale if they're really bad.

That's a topic for the trade proposal subform, but my short answer is that there are very few players who are more valuable to another team than they are to the Red Sox.

That's a play I thought Bogaerts had grown out of. He had plenty of time there and needed to reset his feet rather than rushing a throw.

I actually thought they were too negative at first, but learned differently. Hatfield's comments are pretty honest and accurate also

6 BB in 2.1 IP so far. Way to step up when the team needs you.

We' re better off with Workman, Webster and Rubby taking Peavy, Doubront and Bucholtz spots in the rotation.

Buchholz has nothing. He's missed the zone all day, and I'm flabbergasted that he's still in the game. I understand the bullpen is taxed and he's "only" given up two runs so far, but continuing to leave him in is not that far removed from just forfeiting the game.

I just cant believe people thought buchholz could be close to a #1 pitcher. I've always thought we should ship him out when his value was at its highest. We couldn't get crap for him now. Too injury prone and inconsistent.

Clay on DL in 5….4……3…..2…..1…. He's not injured, his mechanics are just all messed up. He's still throwing hard (harder than he was earlier this season, anyways), but has zero command of the ball.

The Red Sox have all of this starting pitching depth in the high minors. I would much rather see Allen Webster, et al than Buchholz, Peavy, or Doubront. Hopefully this is Buchholz last start for awhile.

I wonder whether Buchholz would be willing to accept an assignment to Pawtucket.

This team appears to have given up. Might as well sell off guys who shouldn't be brought back in 2015, including Lester, Gomes, Carp, Sizemore, Pierzynski, Peavy, Buchholz, Breslow, etc. I feel bad for fans who paid top dollars to watch this team play for the rest of the season. The level of play is embarrassing. Perhaps we will see Worst to First to Worst in consecutive seasons.

Yeah were else could the Red Sox possibly have found a barely-adequate pitcher to go five innings and turn it over to the bullpen?

We won the #1 seed by one game and Clay had the highest WAR of any pitcher on the team. Who knows how Dempster or Doubront would've done starting that game in the WS.

Clay is not a rookie and has been around for awhile. Hard to believe he can't his mechanics back. Not hard to believe he could lose them.
