Ugh, Farrell... Nava's back on the team, he has essentially the same wOBA, wRC+, and ISO as Gomes vs. RHP this season (with Nava having much worse BABIP luck), but Nava has much better BB%, K%, and defense, and we're facing a pitcher who is significantly more effective against righties. Gomes is in right field -- nice.

I don't see how they can throw Buchholz out there again and hope things change. There is clearly a problem, whether physical, mental, or both that needs to be worked out. Maybe he needs time off, maybe he just needs to rehab in AAA. But if they are even half serious about actually winning, you can't throw him out there with the way he has looked his last few starts.
My first guess would be Ranaudo if only because he pitched the same day as Buchholz, but there are plenty of options in AAA

Brock Holt can not only hit, he is also a pretty good baserunner.

Does Bradley even have an approach up there? That's just painful to watch.

Does Bradley even have an approach up there? That's just painful to watch. I mean he drew the count full and fouled a few off in an 8-pitch AB. He just flat out missed that final slider, but I wouldn't knock the approach there.

So convenient to have a pitcher batting. Especially with the bases loaded and no outs.

He can't be this bad, can he? Someone said he would be ( or is) a good obp guy, but the dofus did not realize a guy that can't even make contact does not walk except back to the dug out. What happened to him or was he hyped? He really did not light it up when he went back to AAA last year, including having a high k rate.

Orsillo: "This game remains tied thanks to fine work by Lester."
... uh, who was the guy who created the bases loaded nobody out jam?

Any ump that grants time once the pitcher goes into his motion should be fined and suspended if not fired.

I wouldn't mind having Jason Heyward on my team. I like watching that guy play ...

Sizemore looks like he is doing everything he can to keep his spot on the team. Gotta give the guy an A for effort.

Just cannot walk the pitcher. Lester really struggling with his command.

Geez Lester it's the opposing pitcher batting... just throw some **** strikes and don't bark at the ump when you don't.

Man, BJ Upton looks really similar to Jackie Bradley Jr at the plate to me ... same extra movement in the front foot, same late load on the hips ... those guys should get together and figure something out.

Pinch hit Nava for Gomes here. Oh wait - Farrell manlove. Nevermind. Really, it's inexcusable that Nava isn't starting. Sure, he's sucked this year in a limited number of PA's, but Gomes has always been a crap bat vs. righties his entire career (and he's sure shown that to be true tonight).

It's presumably because Farrell didn't want the roster to be too left-handed. Without Gomes in the lineup, the only righties in the lineup are Bogaerts and Pedroia, who are clumped together at 2nd/3rd (there's also Ross, who doesn't really count because he sucks at hitting). But that's dumb logic-- if they put in a LOOGY, you can pinch-hit Gomes, and stacking the lineup with the platoon advantage is more valuable than the L/R alternating.

Lester is really, really struggling with his command tonight. Just isn't hitting the corners and has missed down the heart of the plate a half-dozen times. Looks like the heat is getting to him-- he's sweating profusely and his face is seriously flushed.
