What do you mean by "projectable" arm. Scouts will often look at a pitcher's body and refer to it as a "projectable" frame, meaning that the pitcher has room to add some weight without sacrificing athleticism. The theory is that the added weight will increase fastball velocity.

10-5? As a righthander? Wouldn't that mean it bends in the opposite direction of a normal curve? Or am I just overthinking this?

I would just assume 10-5 rolls off the tongue better than a 2-7 break.

You're overthinking it. No one ever calls it a 2-8 curve.

@rketcham Just got off the phone with Ben Moore. He's pumped about being drafted by his favorite team. He will be foregoing his senior year at Bama.
Likely underslot. At least I'd imagine.

I like the Ockimey pick. At least he has the high upside raw material. Looks like an athlete. His swing isn't that bad in this video:

The first few rounds tomorrow should see a run on High School players with signability questions. At this point for a HS kid that didn't get draft the slot doesn't matter. The Red Sox gave Nick Longhi 440k last year and picked him in the 30th Round.

Rick O'Brien @ozoneinq Josh Ockimey worked out for Red Sox in Boston last Sunday. He was told to keep it on the hush. He took about 24 hacks

...and Puig (trout in Spanish) "trucha" is the Spanish word for trout. Puig is not even a Spanish name. BTW, great draft coverage, guys. I've been learning a lot these past two days.

Thanks for the correction It's ok, apparently Yasiel Puig doesn't pronounce his family name correctly so maybe he thinks it's Spanish and it means trout and that's how it got online. (for completion's sake, it comes from Spain, but from the Catalan language, it means "mount" and it's pronounced like "pooch").

Thanks for the correction I think it was play on words, he's the Dodgers version of Trout, and he speaks Spanish, er go Puig is Spanish for Trout.

Ockimey looks like a good athlete from the video clips He's doing every bit of it with his arms and wrists. He's already planted his feet and rotated his hips before the bat ever comes through the zone. That's what will have to change. Not impossible, but he's probably done it that way a long time. We know the Sox are at the cutting edge of player assessment, so right now I'm wondering whether (or fantasizing that) they did some psych and/or neurological testing that have led them to believe he'll be especially coachable and able to adapt. That would go a long way to explaining why they sprung such a high pick (relative to pre-draft rankings) on a raw kid with nowhere to go on the defensive spectrum. Certainly one of their most interesting picks off the last few years.

Anyone know the dollar values for the Red Sox top 10 picks? I am hoping that they can save enough through under slot signings to sign one or two guys who have slipped so far in the 2014 due to signability concerns.
