Did someone put something in Jordan Weems orange juice-or is the league just feeling him out and then he'll get exploited on the second go round?

Did someone put something in Jordan Weems orange juice-or is the league just feeling him out and then he'll get exploited on the second go round? Tools are there, probably just a late bloomer for whatever reason, likely figured out something and made adjustments. He's still relatively skinny for a catcher but is athletic. Don't overlook Blair who's also breaking out. I haven't seen him catch (none of the league does MiLB.TV, hopefully next year) but since the Sox converted him from second base, I'd assume the tools are there as well. We might have two more catching prospects than we were thinking a few months ago, we being the fans.

Hassan now at .375 / .457 / .643 (129 PA) since being sent down on June 10. I sure think they fixed something with his swing.
At what point does he start to get consideration for MLB?

Hassan is still striking out a good amount during that stretch (23.2%), though he's also walking and hitting for power (as you might expect from a guy rocking a 1.100 OPS). He would be the guy who comes up if/when Gomes is traded, but Victorino might end up being called up by then and soaking up all the extra at-bats. I'm still not sure Hassan is much more than a fringe major leaguer, and there are guys with more potential (most notably, Betts and Bradley) who need full-time MLB playing time, so I'm not sure he'll get extended time in the majors this year. I could see an argument for promoting him and demoting Betts if there's only going to be part-time playing time available, as Betts needs maximum OF reps while Hassan could benefit from exposure to MLB-caliber pitching.

Hassan is intriguing in some ways. He only recently concentrated on being a position player, so can we expect a learning curve and maybe even a quantum leap. Most views are like Jmie's cut and past assessment, and perhaps they are right. He hasn't shown any real power up until now and is most known for his "approach". He hit for a respectable average and obp) last year, but this year he did not even have much of an average Now in a relatively short period of time, he is raking, including showing more power. The average can be attributed to a streak and maybe luck, but what about the doubles and home runs? The Sox did protect him last year. Is he a different hitter now? His defense is said to be so so, and this does not help his cause to be a regular. Guess I will just watch.
