If you say so. Carp should have been dumped in the offseason. No kidding, I mean he had a lousy 140 wRC+ in 2013, I really can't fathom why BC wasted a roster spot on him. There were a few people who thought the Sox might want to sell high on Carp during the off-season. I was one of them. Its easy to see why that wasn't done, but it wasn't a bad idea. The batting average on the balls he put into play wasn't sustainable, so that would have been a good time to take advantage of what may have been a career year for the guy.

I can understand "selling high". It's not quite the same thing as "dumping" in my book. And perhaps noone was willing to buy high.

Sweep these guys and we're only 1/2 game behind them. And, should be ahead of TB too if that happens.

Carp got hurt and hasn't recovered. We couldn't't give Peavy's contract away. We didn't get offered anything for either guy. If you say so. Carp should have been dumped in the offseason.
[/b] The Sox probably should have traded him when his value was highest, but "dumping" him suggest he was bad. He had a solid 2013. Edit scooped by mgoetze.

Holt is a better outfielder than infielder. It is pretty amazing that he never spent anytime in the outfield before. Mookie looked a bit lost out there and Holt looks like he has played it for years. we had to take hanahran's salary to get holt. thornton in relief throwing 97. But Texas Can Hit 97 fbs meant to quot gbb.

Reportedly, Ben valued him way more than anyone else. I think that's a bit silly the way our roster was constructed in the offseason. If we didn't have Holt, our RF situation would have been disastrous with Nava playing there every game, even against LHP with Gomes playing even more vs. RHP.

Other GM's seen't as smart as us posters. Like they don't know what BABIP is.. I'm sure a team or two like Pitt called about Carp. Ya think they were offering Polanco? Or, someone Cherington didn't think could help? Again, without knowing what was offered, impossible to build an argument to deal him. Unless, you like Mazz and Felger. Look how we got Carp. That will give you a clue as to his value around baseball.

All I said is that Cherington shouldn't have been holding out for a Polanco.

Only Babe Ruth has more multi HR games than big Papi for lefties, per ESPN. They didn't say who had more as righties and I'm not looking it up. If you're second to Babe in anything that's good.

So when was it announced last offseason that Victorino would miss the better part of 2014? 33 year old outfielder who had injury issues for the past 2 seasons while taking a truck load of HBP and playing a stressful corner that is the Fenway RF? You're right, who could have seen it?

I cannot get enough of Christian Vazquez (and BABIP). I had an image of Jose Iglesias meeting Vazquez late at night in a parking garage and saying, here, take this, I don't need it any longer, and handing him the Magic BABIP Token.
