I want to see the team go on a hot streak and "play meaningful baseball in September". Just like the Mets often do.

Let's hope they do not zap the bullpen by September. Maybe Carp can get more play by being a mop man. Would like to see Bradley throw a few innings.

Dude..When is the last time the Red Sox traded to they Yankees to help them. You got ****ing blinders on....man.... this should disgust any fan of the boston redsox. Unlike the fans, the Red Sox don't, and shouldn't, operate in a world where the Yankees are the enemy. The Yankees were in a position to take on a contract of a player the Red Sox didn't need anymore. So they worked out a pretty low level deal. The Yankees get the infield depth they need, the Red Sox are free of a contract if they want to make a waiver claim and also can move Bogaerts to SS and evaluate the third base prospects for next season. And to answer your rhetorical question, it was when the Sox dealt Mike Stanley to New York. My God!! The Yankess are the enemy..they've always been the enemy...the willl always be the enemy/. And they would never operate in the paradigm you've descirbed. This FO signed Drew....to replace Bogaerts..and 150 at -bats later they traded him. This website is full of FO sychophants. A

Personally I would've traded any of our pieces to the Yankees if they could've offered a good enough package.

I think they'll play better now with the distraction of the trade deadline over. It was probably significant.

If the Red Sox had released him the Yankees would have signed him. If the Red Sox had waited until after the draft the Yankees would have signed him. It's not like Cherington hatched a plot to get Drew onto the Yankees, dude. Drew is hitting .350/.450/.550 the rest of the season. I just want everyone to be prepared for that. Dude..When is the last time the Red Sox traded to they Yankees to help them. You got ****ing blinders on....man.... this should disgust any fan of the boston redsox. I have that gene, but really, unless the Sox are dead set at signing Lester in the off season, Cashman should've been on Ben's call list for the Lester trade and Ben should've started by asking for Gardner, Betances and Severino. That would hurt them more for the next few years then letting them rent Lester. And the Yankees are probably going to buy him anyway, so why not bleed them on the way back to the cash register.

If Craig is in LF and Cespedes in RF and Middlebrooks at 3b, Holt probably isn't playing. So who bats leadoff? Bradley?

Middlebrooks and Bogaerts will sit one game a week. Bradley will sit twice a week. Pedroia will sit occasionally. He'll be in the lineup more than 50% of the time.

Honestly, does it really matter who bats where?
This is where we find out what we need to do in the offseason and there shouldn't be much else. The guys who will not be here shouldn't get many innings.

if Workman is optioned today, there is a 6-man bullpen with Layne and the rotation is: Ranaudo Webster Buchholz MON off day TUE RDLR WED Kelly TH Ranaudo FRI Webster SAT Buccholz
maybe. A reminder to management that INF K Johnson is eligible to come off the DL on 8/7.

Some of us, are steeped in the ideas of Machiavelli (less so in those of his disciples like Kissinger). We're intrigued at how the Yankees and their fans will react to having a very good shortstop forced to play second base in deference to Jeter's rotting corpse, the one the team rolls out there every day. Myself, I'm going to get the beer and popcorn and kick back. Should be a good show.

My hopes for the lineup tonight
Holt - 3B Pedey - 2B Cespedes - RF Ortiz - DH Napoli - 1B Craig - LF Bogaerts - SS Bradley - CF Vazquez - C
Possibly Vic in CF to face the lefty
Havent been this excited about a Sox game in 3 months. Imagine a few months back, someone told you the pitching matchup in an early August game against the MFY was going to be Anthony Ranaudo vs. Chris Capuano.
