Trust me, I get more than anyone the way a certain album can resonate more due to sentimentality. But yeah, check those out if you like 10,000 Days.
FWIW, Parabola (or more specifically, the last like 10 seconds of Parabol as it transitions into Parabola) is probably my go-to when I need some music to give me a kick of adrenaline.

10,000 Days came out in 2006. Your post makes it even more surprising to me you don't prefer Aenima or Lateralus... Ohh really? I'm not a music guy. I'll give those albums a listen too though. Thanks Chris. I envy you getting to listen to them for the first times. |

Ok, time for more Pile, aka your favorite band's favorite band, evangelism. I wrote up their most recent album already, but now let's have a look at their live savagery:
I think that last video really goes to why I enjoy them so much, basically "they're kinda like Radiohead, but with more of a heavy rock influence, and a vastly more talented lead vocalist".

So I wasn't familiar with Pile at all and I'm digging it. Thumbs up on that.
And they're from Boston? I'm surprised I never came across them. I guess by 2008 or so I was past going to shows particularly frequently but that's sort of my wheelhouse so I'm disappointed nobody pointed me in their direction. Verdict: I need better friends.

Although they've sold out a little bit a recent group that's come out that I'm sure most of you will like Portugal. The Man. Give the song feel it still" a chance. Been meaning to respond to this. You realize Feel It Still went to #4 on the Billboard chart and went double platinum, right? I think lots of folks are giving that one a chance.  |

Then 6 months later landed that automobile commercial, and it was the like the Aquaspin merchandise bump for "Conner4real"  . Might be a bad reference if you're not into Lonely Island. |

I was searching for some new stuff to listen to and I was focusing on the stuff I like, that being weird music in general. Then I saw A Sailor's Guide to Earth being recommended and the cover looked absolutely stunning and I thought it was some violent country like 16 Horsepower. Yeah, it isn't, it's traditional and it borders hard on pop music. But it's actually awesome, I've been disconnected with recent pop music because I think it's largely terrible so to my surprise this was an Album of the Year Grammy nominee (along with 4 artists I absolutely despise) and that humped my hipster mind because more than 5 people liked this too. But it's very good stuff, it's safe but well done and I appreciate the smart and articulated lyrics. I'm a fan, terrific album.
Keep in mind I'm not american so this is probably bigger there than it is here lol.

I really liked Sturgill Simpson when he was on SNL so I looked into his music. I found most of it to be way too country for me. But I really like some of his newer stuff.

Yeah I heard his previous album just now, the Metamodern one, and it was very solid but it didn't hold my attention throughout. His last one is downright terrific, it feels to me a bit like Rubber Soul despite sounding obviously nothing like it. It's not overly experimental, but it definitely got an edge and it's perfectly done. |
