For a short period i heard Don and Jerry in the background on the YES feed. that was hilarious!! Guess YES fixed the problem. Their network sucks! Only sane announcer YES has had for 30Y who wasn't a dyed in the wool homer was Bill White.

Same pitch (Change up), same location (down and away): Betts line out to CF, Bogaerts pop out to 2B.

Castillo showing some nice pop. That ball went a long way with a nice easy swing

They're trying to screw us for that high pick! I almost agree.

Butler had a rough night catching Wright. The ump wasn't helping either.

I'm tired of Jeter and the Yanks working the umps for the last 20 years. Constantly ragging about their pitch calls. Even if Jeter does it respectfully, he still does it to pressure the guy to give him the Michael Jordan treatment. The Yes Network complaining about it constantly. Girardi working the umps constantly. I'm with Guidas. I hope we clobber them every year.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I love Jeter. He has been one of my favorite major league players for years. He is a gamer and a tough competitor, but a good sport and a lover and respecter of the game. He and Pedroia would have been an incredible pair in the middle of the infield. So I am sorry he is done. I hope he appears in one of the two televised games that I get to see this weekend. But I also am looking forward to seeing all these young and/or new Red Sox players. I think next season is going to be a great improvement over this season for the Red Sox, but I don't know how the Yankees fix all their problems. They could have a losing season next year. I have absolutely no ill will toward Jeter whatsoever ... but I'm not the biggest fan of guys announcing their retirement a year in advance. Don't get me wrong, it's his career, and he has every right to retire how he damn well pleases. But after that ridiculous farewell tour everyone had to deal with last year, it would have been nice for Jeter to have gone a different route.

The "De-rek Je-ter" chant at Fenway last night every 5 minutes when he wasn't even playing was also annoying.

It's the coverage of the retirement tour that's exhausting. And I think it's a little insulting to the majority of baseball fans who don't particularly care about the Yankees. Obviously it's all that Yankees fans really have this season, and even for Red Sox fans I can see why it's a significant moment but if you're an Angels fan or an Oakland fan or a Royals fan or a Pirates fan I think it's absolutely ridiculous that anyone thinks you should give a crap about Jeter's retirement tour. Did anyone act like Craig Biggo's retirement tour should mean anything to fans outside of Houston?

Jeter witnessed the media coverage that Mariano received (and the circus that came with it), and decided to take the same approach. He could have opted for a different approach, but he didn't. However, like I said earlier, it's his right to retire however he wants to, and it doesn't bother me all that much either way. I just prefer it when athletes choose to retire a little more quietly, that's all.

Jeter was supposed to be all about dignity but tainted that a bit by letting this incessant deification of a farewell tour go on. I hope that when Papi retires none of that will happen, except in Boston. Jeter was a long time cog on some very good teams, a good team leader and well-respected. He ran out every play. But he is not immortal and not a God-like figure. Half of his hits seemed to be blunts and bleeders to the opposite field or topped grounders to third and short. Fielding was not a forte by today's advanced metrics. Give him his due, Jete take a bow for a job well done and then quietly take your seat among the masses.

If he hadn't announced it, I feel like it would be just as much of a circus, but with more speculation/controversy/innuendo. Either way, if I'm MLB PR, I'm doing everything possible to downplay the retirement tour. For one thing there's a notion that baseball revolves around the Red Sox/Yankees and nothing could feed into that in a worse way than focusing on two terrible teams in the closing days of the season because one of them has a terrible shortstop who's retiring. And for another thing, MLB is allegedly concerned with the aging of it's fanbase and it's lack of young superstars, which means it's probably not best to put the focus on a guy who's best seasons happened during the Clinton administration.

However maybe Selig was involved in both these retirement plans as they did increase exposure and bigger payoffs more than likely for baseball as a whole. And Selig needed that for his place in history too. Jeter sales of trinkets has been number one this year so stadium monies had to of been higher also. After all to the league of gentlemen owners the game is about making more money.

Well someone at Fox or Dish decided that there had been enough of Jeter, etc., so we folks in the West get to see the Pirates and the Reds. Really disappointing.

Nava makes WAY too many base running mistakes, that has to be addressed in the off season.
