Here is Law's Sox top 10. His commentary is very interesting. He thinks Barnes and Cecchini could be starting players for a number of other teams right now. 1. Blake Swihart, C 2. Henry Owens, LHP 3. Eduardo Rodriguez, LHP 4. Rafael Devers, 3B 5. Manuel Margot, CF 6. Garin Cecchini, 3B 7. Matt Barnes, RHP 8. Brian Johnson, LHP 9. Deven Marrero, SS 10. Michael Chavis, 3B insider.espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/post?id=3260 (subscription required)

mlb.com's top 100 out and it's pretty bizarre. Swihart 18, Owens 19 Rodriguez 89, Devers 96, Margot 99 mlb.com has six guys in their top 100 drafted in 2013 after pick #7. Wait, no, it's eight or more, including competitive balance pick Manaea. No, wait again, there are at least ten.

Chris Crawford lists his Red Sox top 15 including write-ups. Good read. 1. Blake Swihart 2. Henry Owens 3. Eduardo Rodriguez 4. Manuel Margot 5. Rafael Devers 6. Garin Cecchini 7. Matt Barnes 8. Michael Chavis 9. Deven Marrero 10. Brian Johnson 11. Trey Ball 12. Sam Travis 13. Michael Kopech 14. Anderson Espinoza 15. Edwin Escobar www.drafttotheshow.com/top-15-in-15-boston-red-sox/ Crazy that Brian Johnson was born in 1996. I do enjoy reading these write-ups, even if it is a side project.

Just in case anyone was unclear, the article says he was born in 96. He was really born in 1990.

Whats you best guess where Yoan Moncada will be ranked? If he signs with the Red Sox dose it make them jump to the top of the team rankings?

For what it's worth, Ben Badler (BA) would put him in the Overall Top 20 of his personal list (could even get to top 10).

They're projecting Barnes to be a 5 WAR pitcher for 20 years ? Yikes.

ADD: I'm not sure if those two things are related.

5-8, really? He'd likely be ranked in the top 20 of all of MiLB by most - Badler has come out and said this. I think he'd have to be 1,2, or 3

I'm not so sure he tops out Swihart. Blake was number 10 on Law's list but no telling where he'll end up on BA's list. Badler had an iffy answer that basically said somewhere between about 8 and 15 but Badler is an international guy and that high might not be universal at BA. I'll wild guess #2 on the Sox behind Swihart but ahead of Owens.

To me, no doubt top 2, at least. I'd be inclined to say 1 but haven't thought enough about it.

Badler said he had him ahead of Sano. Does anyone here have Swihart ahead of Sano? I don't personally, but I don't think it would be ridiculous. On a grading system I'd have both like a very strong A-. So yeah, based on word of mouth and what I've read, I'd have Moncada #1, and the fact that I feel like I'm equivocating is mostly a strong endorsement of Swihart.

I know it's not the exercise here but what's actually a more important point than how they are ranked is which one would you rather have. No way would I trade Swihart for Moncada and I'd trade Moncada for Swihart in a flash.
