And 2004 Red Sox hero Dave Roberts takes over, at least on an interim basis.

@espnchicubs: @kschwarb12 to be with the Cubs from Tues-Sunday to DH, bat off the bench, be a 3rd catcher and get a taste of big leagues. Then to AAA

No, but they need to be active for at least 90 days. By my count he's at about 38, so they're going to need to keep him active for almost two months to keep him.

Apparently Luhnow used the same password in Houston as he did back when he was in St. Louis and some members of the Cards organisation had access to that password for whatever reason. Calling this "hacking" is akin to calling the act of opening your fridge to grab some cold cuts "cooking".

Just because you're stupid and use the password1 as your password, doesn't mean I have the right to use it to gain access to files that I have no right to access.

I'm all for wiping the entire Cardinal organization off the face of the planet. Seems like the only fair punishment.

Of course not... and that password shouldn't have existed in a form where other members of the Cards organisation could read it anyway. I'm just saying that calling it "hacking" is giving the Cards people involved too much credit.

It was only going to be until they named an interim manager, based on what I'd read, and which the ESPN link seems to agree with.

Having an interim manager to get to the interim manager is the Padres-est thing in the world. The weirder part is that, as a countermove, they named Dave Roberts the catcher.

I'll admit to not reading the article. The headline of Dave Roberts name interim manager seemed clear enough. Apparently not.

Just when it appeared like we are heading to the 7th inning stretch of Deflategate, we now have something like "Archgate" with the Cardinals illegally accessing the Astros' player evaluation systems. It will be interesting to show how this all plays out in the national press if proven to be true. The Cardinals being a mid-west team which is probably only despised by Cubs' fans, compared to the Patriots and Belechick which are probably universally despised by the other 31 teams and their fan bases across the NFL for their long-standing success.

This is easiest the most equivalent thing to the actual Watergate that sports has seen. If the allegations are true, one would hope that the Cardinals lose multiple first round picks/get banned from have competitive balance picks.
This kind of behavior is far worse than anything the patriots have been accused of (ie its actual theft of IP).

I think that would be a start, plus I would think there could also be fines and possible suspensions for any Cardinals' officials who are implicated in such activities. Not exactly the type of activities spelled out in the Matheny Manifesto.

I'm expecting Yadier Molina to be suspended 40 games, a $1M fine, loss of first round draft pick, and two equipment guys to be suspended for some reason.

McClure may indeed not be very good, but the Phillies pitchers are probably better than I thought they'd be. Hamels has been Hamels, Harang has been good, and take a look at the rest of the pitchers who have started games for them: Jerome Williams (14) Sean O'Sullivan (9) David Buchanan (5) Severino Gonzalez (5) Chad Billingsley (3) Kevin Correia (1) Dustin McGowan (1) Without Hamels and Harang, that rotation wouldn't be especially good in Triple-A.
