So it's minor league stats, etc. A hint: If you don't think a guy is going to spend a significant portion of the year in the minors, don't pick him. |

I always struggle with the definition of comeback and breakout player of the year. Would Moncada really be a breakout player? Would Longhi really be a comeback player only because he was injured for some portion of last season? Perhaps examples are the best way to explain? wiki.soxprospects.com/SoxProspects+Players+of+the+YearThere can certainly be overlap, but in a general sense, a breakout player is someone who becomes a top prospect, while a comeback player is one who either stunk or was injured the year before having a very good season. |

Any player who has ever played for the Red Sox major league team or in the minor league system is eligible. To be more precise, all current major or minor league players in the Red Sox system and all players on these lists are eligible. For instance, Victor Martinez was the right answer to that question last year, and guys like Adrian Gonzalez, Anthony Rizzo, and Adam LaRoche would all be eligible. |

Is JBJ eligible for Comeback POTY? I don't think he'd be ineligible, but you should remember that those awards generally consider minor league performance only and are voted on by the SoxProspects community. |

I don't think he'd be ineligible, but you should remember that those awards generally consider minor league performance only and are voted on by the SoxProspects community. Yeah, I guess the answer is that he's eligible, but that the scenario would have to be that he has such a good minor league campaign that he wins that award. In theory, this isn't out of the realm of possibility. Cecchini mashes in Triple-A until the end of July, putting in a body of work sufficient to get him the call to the majors... and we stop there as far as we're concerned in the voting. In a weak field, that could win it I think. |
