Gordon Edes @gordonedes · 24m24 minutes ago ? : 5/25 at MIN: Pedroia 2B, Betts CF, Ortiz DH, Ramirez LF, Sandoval 3B, Napoli 1B, Bogaerts SS, Nava RF, Swihart C, Kelly RHP.
Happy ugly uniform day. As I suspected, Farrell still thinks that the 3-hole is where he should put his best hitter.

I don't get this guy. It could be worse but he doesn't get it.
I mean Holt is starting to do better so don't play him. Napoli is hitting a ton of HR so bat him sixth? Ramirez is hurt. They must think he is just slumping. I can't believe from April to May. How can it be just a slump? I mean he is doing nothing. Whatever. Just when we turn a corner. I hope it works I really do.

I would have liked to see Holt, possibly in place of HanRam against a RHP and in the fist game after travel. Hanley could probably use a day off. I also don't understand the rationale for playing Nava's LH bat ahead of Holt's LH bat in RF. Holt, quite simply, is a better player right now.

Holt is probably pretty sore from yesterday which is probably why he's getting the day off.

I am so happy that we are starting to see Xander break out offensively, not to mention his impressive defensive strides as well. So far this season, as a 22 year old SS playing at least average defense, arguably above average: 7.0 BB%, 13.9 K%, .747 OPS, .329 wOBA, 106 wRC+. Sure, he's been getting a bit lucky (.331 BABIP), but seems to be making harder contact the past few weeks and being more patient. He still has what seem like "jittery" moments where he loses his approach, but those are becoming less frequent as time goes on.
Who was it saying they wanted to send him back to AAA as recently as a few weeks ago? Seems like he is finally figuring it out. Amazing that he is only 22 still, and doesn't turn 23 until October.
I also think the lineup is fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

As long as you have a good hitter in both places, the difference between batting your best hitter second and third is like 1/4 of a win over the course of a season. I still think Betts is a good hitter, so it's really impossible for me to get worked up. This isn't like when the Mets would bat Paul Loduca second to hit into double plays ahead of David Wright. I'd swap Betts and Pedroia because Betts is faster and Pedroia is better, but the Red Sox order is pretty solid.
These uniforms make me want to move to Canada.

I'm looking for Big Papi to go large this series. He always seems to remind the Twins of the big mistake they made.

Seriously, time to sit Hanley for a while. I thought he was replacing Napoli about 4 days ago?

Seriously, time to sit Hanley for a while. There is no one really to play in LF. Feels like everytime we get runners on 1st and 2nd its a double play.

Hanley is still hitting the ball hard pretty often. Everyone gets in slumps. Just have to trust he's not trying to play through an injury.

Remdog with a little slap to Swihart's face, telling Nava to swing there.

Hanley Ramirez needs to be the DH ASAP. Just horrific defending.

Never did I think Hanley Ramirez could be worse at any position than he was at SS.
I was wrong.

Joe Kelly has not pitched bad whatsoever, this is like a Buchholz start with 12 ground ball singles.

Ive been one of those guys saying Hanley to first next year, but i could see Hanley just giving up on everything thrown into the dirt.

Joe Kelly has not pitched bad whatsoever, this is like a Buchholz start with 12 ground ball singles. Completely agree. 4 runs without much hit hard. Hanley is a butcher in left, but Kelly is getting babip'd to death. Would help if he could get more swings and misses though.
