Thanks for the clarification. I asked because I have not been overly impressed with how the club has handled the young players the last few years. But if he is legitimately still not over that sprained foot it does make sense...

So the game plan is to just walk every LHB? What could possibly go wrong...

I love watching Ryan Hanigan hit. He's the anti-Wily-Mo-Pena.

So the game plan is to just walk every LHB? What could possibly go wrong... Looks like they deviated from the gameplan after the first lefty. Oops, went back to it for Castro. Maybe they're going for that sweet 50% BB-rate to lefties.

As for Masterson, if you must play him, it seems abundantly clear to me that his times through the order split is gonna be big, so he absolutely should be done after 189 batters at the very latest. I'll bet John Farrell is incapable of such analysis, though. Corrected myself.

To be fair, his defense has not helped him much.
ADD: the replay was amusing, but Mookie and Xander sprinted over to backup the play in case the bounce off the wall got past Hanley. Of course, that meant there was no cutoff man, which means Singleton scored.

Justin Masterson is a reliever at this point. Still confused the Sox gave him another shot.

I'm not normally this guy, but: DFA Masterson.

I hope this means we get either Johnson or Wright next time around.

Ugh. Think I might be dipping into the 4th of July spirits a little early.

I hope this is the last time we see Masterson in a Sox uniform!

Can we please, for the love of god, DFA Breslow and move Masterson to the bullpen to be used strictly against RHH? What is so hard to understand, everybody in this forum would've done that over a month ago.

What is so hard to understand, everybody in this forum would've done that over a month ago. Their obsession with holding onto warm bodies is frustrating. I get it, but what are you even hoping to get out of a guy like Breslow? It's not like he was Aroldis Chapman at his peak. How much crappy pitching do you want to endure when the upside is a 2.5 K/BB reliever who isn't even particularly effective against same-handed hitters?

It's pretty safe to say that Bogaerts no longer has that hole against offspeed down and away. Consistently pokes it into right field this year.

Wow. That could have been bad. Lucky Ortiz was starting to get down. That was a split-second from catching him right in the face.

Bring in Ramirez, this one is over. You know it's a crappy year when being down 3 runs to the Astros on the 4th inning has people saying it's over.

When Pedroia will be back, I think Napoli should hit the bench. In the begining of the season you could chalk his struggles to BABIP luck but now the guy look like an uber-mess!

Layne should've been pulled as soon as he put a man on. He's gassed.
