I just watched Glass. I'm not a fan of superhero movies but this one was pretty unique and had good actors/acting. It's worth a watch.

I was somewhat disappointed with the first trailer for Top Gun 2 because they are flying f-14s. This trailer though shows a jet at the end that I'm not familiar with. It looks somewhat like the SR-71 but it isn't. It looks like it's built for speed. Anyone know what it is ? I've been away from the Aerospace Industry for quite a while now.

I finally got around to watching Chernobyl. Very good, I'd recommend watching it if you haven't already. Very educational. I also started to watch Hustlers. What garbage that is. Hustlers is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. Watch the first five minutes with J-Lo and then turn it off lol.

Chernobyl is a great movie (series). It shows the Russians view their disasters. ie. hide it from the world, human cost means nothing, the State is the most important thing, facts mean nothing.
I heard that the dome they finally covered it with is only guaranteed for 100 years. By then they'll have to build another one.

How much of that is stereotypes and how much is real is pretty much an unknown. I've met several Russians here, mostly tourists not "party", but they seem nice to me. Generalizing, which is never a good thing, they seem far less "strack" than the Germans I've met. Small sample sizes noted.

Phil big difference in Russian Government and it's people. The show made the people look great, willing to die for their Country. Yet it made the Government look horrible and they just did the same thing recently when testing a missile. Acting like it was nothing, while Countries far away had spikes in radiation levels.

I don't disagree with that at all. I just don't buy into the media's portrayal of virtually every country into only black hats and white hats. As they say, power corrupts and the governments officials of any country come from the population. There are good bureaucrats and bad bureaucrats everywhere. The percentages are different but it's not close to 100% for either side.

I just finished watching Portrait of a Lady on Fire. I say just finished because it took 4 sittings to stay awake for it, it's boring as hell and could have been done in less than an hour. That said, it was well done and worth watching although I wouldn't recommend seeing it a theater.

I find it entertaining and Geralt is an interesting character. How they jump around in time is a bit strange. In the next to last episode he said he hadn't been back in 12 years which would make the girl less than 12 years old. If that's the case, they should have used 2 actresses, a young one and an older one. The actress that plays Celi is 18 years old,

I watched Rambo Last Blood, likely Sly and the Family Stilone's last movie (he's getting past it). Not a great movie but better than I was expecting. There was a lot of Spanish dialog but you can pretty much figure out what that's about if you don't speak Spanish.

I'm not a Star Wars junkie so I don't know or care about all the little details, plot holes, Easter eggs, etc. but, to me, The Rise of the Skywalker was only OK and season one of The Mandalorian was pretty good. In the original movies, I was more into all the various creatures than the fighting.

There might be nobody on earth who goes to "Frozen 2" based on a recommendation - you knew three years ago whether or not it is a movie you will see. But I took the kids this weekend and it is good enough to recommend. So if you've got kids or whatever and you've been putting it off or dreading that it would just be a formulaic re-do of the first movie, it isn't - they'll enjoy it and you'll be entertained. And I thought the animation was legitimately outstanding, so if you're into that sort of thing it's enough to recommend on that alone.

I find it harder to appreciate animation in the age of computers. I miss hearing that the stampede in The Lion King took years to animate on its own, etc.

That same logic would have you stuck in the My Favorite Martian period over Star Wars.
Disney's Maleficent (2014) and Maleficent Mistress of Evil (2019) were pretty good. Both are in the mixed animation/acting recipe that seems to be getting more popular, plus I learned a new word.
A bit more applicable to slightly older kids (and adults) than Frozen 2. Sadly though, Angelina Jolie looks anorexic. The movie I am looking forward to in that arena is Avatar 2. The original Avatar was pretty ground breaking and will be tough to top.

China Xinhua News · Disney's animated blockbuster "Frozen 2" is now the highest grossing animated film of all time, garnering 1.325 billion dollars globally since its release. The top three highest grossing animated films -- "Frozen 2," "Frozen" and "Incredibles 2" -- are now all under the Disney banner.

1917 I haven't seen it yet, but it's supposedly realistic. If so, it should be a great movie. I've just finishing reading 3 books on WWI, all written by soldiers who were there and their experiences. One from France, one from Britain, and one from Germany. The thing that struck me is that every one of them experienced the exact same thing. One side didn't differ from the other, whether is be from combat or leadership. The Generals on both sides were incredibly stupid, wasting countless lives for nothing. It was the first mechanized war, but the leaders didn't know how to use it. If the US hadn't jumped in late in the war and put an end to it, it might be still going on today. In my opinion, it was the craziest, stupidest war, fought for no good reason, wasting countless lives, all for nothing. What was the end result? WWII. Nice.
Another result was the Spanish Flu. All that bombing and artillery and huge mines being set off released the Spanish Flu that was buried in the ground for millions of years. It wasn't just a common flu, it was deadly. It didn't spread by touching. It spread in the air. So, even Eskimos got it. Somewhere between 50 and 100 million people died around the world from it. The curious thing is that the young people were dying, not the older ones. Young people have strong immune systems. Old people have weaker ones. When the immune system kicked in on young people, it was so strong it ended up killing the people it was supposed to protect. Older people got the flu as well, but their immune system was so weak, it only made them sick, not die.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the film to see how accurate it is.
