Turner starting tonight in place of an injured Avery Bradley. I don't have a clue what Stevens is doing this year.

Start Smart and sit him for larger increments in between shifts. They keep getting off to woeful starts, and Smart would help alleviate that. And Turner would continue playing more minutes against backups, which is when he's most effective.

I don't think they get off to slow starts that I've seen. At least not more than normal. And if Smart is limited and still building up his conditioning, it makes sense to play him off the bench. And even if he started for a few minutes and came out, it wouldn't change much.

I explained why I think Smart would be better starting and Turner would be better off the bench. Not sure how me answering a question is being nitpicky.

It was nit picky to criticize Stevens for starting Turner.

I'd be inclined to go IT/Marcus/KO/AJ/Jae as the starters with AB/ET/Sully off the bench.

Last night Marcus Smart single handily played so pathetic the Celtics lose. Sorry guys, I just don't see what you see in him.

This team is losing its excitement.
On another more serious note: Kudos to Brad Stevens for missing tonight's game to see a former player battling cancer.

I think it's more about fit than what I see in him.
As a starter, he can offset IT'S lack of D. Meanwhile, Bradley can be the #1 scoring option off the bench (with Turner the primary ball handler).
It's definitely not what you want out of a #6 pick but, when healthy, he's a young Tony Allen and he and Jae (who is turning into a steal imo) can set the tone for that group. Granted, it'd be easier to stomach a SG who can't shoot if we had bigs who could but that's another issue altogether.

We need some offense even if we can't get a star. I think Stevens could take Alec Burks up a notch. He has good size and athleticism, and a solid shooting stroke too. His defense is poor but he has potential there.
Others like Danillo but I'm not too high on him.

Yea or they can trade some of the log jam and open up room for James Young to get regular playing time and build confidence. His shooting has been bad but it's confidence based IMO, he's never looking to really shoot or rushes the shot. It's never in the flow and that's just confidence. He's played much better defensively.

Yeah he hasn't looked nearly as bad as he did last year, but clearly isn't being given much freedom on the court yet.
I really hope we don't trade for Cousins. He has the highest usage rate in the NBA and shoots 43%. Not good for a big man. He's inefficient and a ball hog, not even getting into his attitude problems on and off the court. Ainge has alluded that he's not interested in Cousins, so I hope that's true.

Oh, I have thought it my self. Boston ends up in the lottery and wins. No other team moves up so Boston gets #1 and #4 (assuming other standing stay the same).
Oh how the tides have turned.

It's a tank, which might be time for. Which reminds me of an excellent scene in Kung Fury which the main character hits two guards with a tank and says "tank you" with a straight face. Everyone should watch Kung Fury, really.

Not time to tank but they should emphasize developing talent that's got a future here so Turner and Lee should go

If not a time to tank, then definitely a time to sell off Sullinger, Turner/ any one else who "opens up playing time for younger players."

Sullinger is a "younger" player. Who's time is he blocking?

Kelly Olynyk the only Celtic with a positive +/- versus the Mavs right now. He is +26.

I watched that whole Mavs game from start to finish. Man that was brutal.
