Tough luck but it looked pretty predictable to me with that all upper body delivery.

Further north.
Bryan Hoch @bryanhoch 12m12 minutes ago Luis Severino diagnosed with a mild right triceps strain. Will not pick up a baseball for 5-7 days, and will be placed on 15-day DL.
Yanks with a chance to see all that starter depth.

Sad news: The Pirates have released righty Daniel Bard, according to Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com (via Twitter). Now 30, Bard hasn’t seen the majors since a brief stint in 2013; indeed, he hasn’t even appeared in the minors since the campaign that followed. The live-armed reliever completely lost his ability to hit the zone and has seemingly never regained it. Pittsburgh had been the latest organization to take a chance on a return to form for the one-time late-inning ace, but obviously it appears as if the experiment didn’t take. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/05/minor-mlb-transactions-51316.html

So Matt Bush, whom you may remember being the high school short stop drafted 1st overall in 2004 by the Padres (in which the Tigers actually had the worst record, but that was the last year in which the league alternated between the NL and AL having the first pick), made his MLB debut for the Rangers as a pitcher. He was one of 3 people to be drafted #1 overall and to have never played in the majors, with the other two (Steve Chilcott 1966 Mets) and Brien Taylor (1991 Yankees) The other two players were due to injuries whereas Bush was largely due to his lengthy arrest record.

Per foxs1. Big Papi needs one more 2b to join Hank A, and Barry B, as the only players with 500 home runs and 600 2bs.
BIG papi Joins bonds an Aaron, plus gets the walk off.

Well, it was more that he sucked too, but who knows what effect his off-field activities were having on-field.

Massive brawl during the Jays-Rangers game. Sparked by a dirty takeout slide by Joey Bats, and a savage fist to his jaw by Rougned Odor: vine.co/v/i0A6MArm9W7

The slide wasn't that bad. It seemed to me like they were looking for a reason to "pay him back" for that bat flip.

The slide wasn't that bad. It seemed to me like they were looking for a reason to "pay him back" for that bat flip. The slide was an intentional attempt to injure. He didn't start the slide until he was at the base. Because he didn't get hurt didn't mean it wasn't really bad. They should both be suspended for the same # of games, maybe 1.

Definitely an illegal slide by the new rules, going down that late and passing the bag, trying to take out Odor's legs. But I have never seen a play escalate that quickly, or a baseball player connect on a punch that well.
ADD: Agree that both should be suspended. The slide wasn't egregious, but it was illegal. And Rougie took the play to place it didn't need to go.

Donaldson running into a gaggle of Rangers while flailing around was chuckleworthy. Good job, good effort.

LOL, am watching the end of the Rangers-Jays game. The way Bautista got on in the first place was via HBP which got both teams a warning. After the brawl in the top of the 8th, the Jays started the bottom of the 8th by plunking... Prince Fielder in the thigh? Dude has quite a bit of padding there, seemed like a pretty futile gesture. Of course in a one-run game putting a man on base and racking up more ejections is a great idea.
Rangers PbP guy after seeing the replay of Odor's punch... "pretty solid connection there, Rougned's 2 for 5 now!"

There's been so much right and wrong leading up to that play.....it's hard to tell who is right or wrong.

Seriously, it looks like Bautista woke up 1 million views later. I wonder if Sam Dyson will ever turn this off repeat. I'm just glad we had a baseball fight that actually had a real punch. Most of the other punches are like Peter Pan, because they Never Land. I'll let myself out.

You guys that like complaining about every small stuff that Farrell does should check out the Dodgers and Cardinals game. On a late tied game, old pal Dave Roberts just IBB'd Brandon Moss with 2 guys out to face Yadier Molina. It led to a double. He then IBB'd the next guy, the Cardinals got another run. This is awesome.
