Sonny Gray pitching a no-no in the 6th. I'm just saying it to jinx him so we don't overpay to get him.

Didn't know where exactly to post this, but a former Babe Ruth teammate of mine (Brandon Bingel) was drafted by the Pirates today, as well as another guy from my Little League (Pat Ruotolo, by the Giants). Really cool to see.

Toronto has 4 with Philly, their fairweather fans are starting to come out again and they are the WORST.

I bet that James Shield's price/stock keeps going down.

Perhaps I've missed previous discussion on it but I just now realized former 1st round draft pick Reymond Fuentes, now 25, has been playing OF for the KC Royals. Fuentes was of course part of the Adrian Gonzalez trade to San Diego and later traded to KC for P Kyle Bartsch.

Iggy got busted in on his hands and hit an op field home run tonight. Watched in a dozen times and still don't get it.

Colby Lewis lost a no-hit bid in the 9th inning on a deep drive to RF that Mazara had in his glove briefly before losing it as he was just about to crash into the wall, very tough play, no fault on Mazara IMO, so close to being a great catch to save the no-no.

I don't think shields will be opting out. Wait a minute, I thought opt-outs are ALWAYS great for the team?

I don't think shields will be opting out. I'd still trade for him if the other team takes Sandoval.

I agree, but Sandoval costs more so we'd be out less money (than the White Sox owe on Shields). That's my only reason for mentioning it.

Mariners and Dodgers swap Chris Taylor and Zach Lee. Out of that group of Seattle middle infield prospects (Taylor, Brad Miller, Nick Franklin) I would've figured that at least one of them would've panned out at the major league level.

Wow, he was brutal through like, May 12 (was hitting .148), then went on an absolute tear. May 13 through June 16: .389/.438/.814 with 6 HR in 128 PA over 31 games. Wonder what the Pirates are planning on doing with him? They've only got two more years of McCutchen, but I can't see them just hanging onto Meadows as the McCutchen insurance plan until the end of 2017, and Marte and Polanco aren't going anywhere. Do you move him and for what? SP market is garbage this year.

Do you move him and for what? SP market is garbage this year. They've already moved Josh Bell out of the OF for this same reason. He is having a very productive year at the plate but continues to have issues defensively at first. There is also Harold Ramirez in AA Altoona who is a decent prospect. There are intriguing options here for Boston to consider but I'm not sure where the teams would match up for a trade. I guess there is the obligatory Swihart trade options but Pittsburgh does have Reese McGuire in AA. Maybe Pittsburgh would bite on Henry Owens as part of a multi player/prospect package but with Cole, Glasnow and Taillon they have a nice young rotation looming. Pittsburgh is one of the best clubs at identifying young talent IMO and it shows on the field and in there farm system.

Bell and Meadows would both interest me, but I think Bell makes more sense for this team as currently constructed. He'd also be cheaper.
