Nothing says baseball like watching Koji buzzsaw his way through an inning. Gotta be my favorite Sox relief pitcher ever. One of my all-time favorite sound bites was Eck in a postgame talking about Koji: "...punches two guys out just to stay in shape." I'm with you. He's a beast, and watching him dissect hitters with high-80s "heat", precision guidance, and the off-the-edge-of-the-continental-shelf-and-into-darkness splitter is awesome. Just one day, but they look good. Depending on what he does this year, I'm fully on board with bringing him back next year too. I don't see why he couldn't keep going.

It's already started, though. Betts is definitely the best player on the team and was last year as well.

Kimbrel without much control. Lot of stuff right down the middle and 2 feet of the plate. But his stuff is so dumb——and Hirshbeck is such a hack——that it doesn't even matter.

Kimbrel is just ridiculously OP. He didn't have it but it didn't matter a single bit.

Except for a save, this is pretty much a script.
Price 6IP 10K Mookie 2 R HR & great catch Ortiz 2 R HR Kimbrel game over

A damn fine win. Textbook.
Just how DD drew it up this offseason when he was signing DP and trading away a part of the farm for CK.

So is "when Kimbrel warms up he has to get in the game" going to be a thing like it was with Koji, or was this just an opening day special?

Textbook, and as we expected a typical Sox game to play out. 1 down, 161 to go.
