Announcers discussing Moncada's grand slam yesterday:
- Measured at 107.5 MPH off the bat
- Travelled 448 feet
- "We lost sight of it, but I'm told by several fans that it cleared the video board in straight away center field. If that's true, I've only seen it done here twice before ... the two guys that did it were Eric Hosmer and Joey Gallo."
*drool*
Meanwhile, the kid is 2-2 w/ 1b, 2b and a SB

David Cameron of Fangraphs said he thinks Swihart's Red Sox career is over... I find that a bit premature to speculate, but I do think the idea of Blake headlining a trade in the future is realistic. If they actually want to trade him though, doesn't playing him in LF so often lessen his trade value? A weird situation by all angles. My concern is that Swihart's trade value is no longer high enough to be the "headliner" in a trade package. One year ago, yes...but I don't think so anymore. I think the fact that the Red Sox are already experimenting with Swihart in LF shows how little faith they have in him ever being an above-average defensive catcher. If Dombrowski and company still believed in Swihart's defensive abilities, why isn't he behind the plate every day?

Salem announcer cracks up as he finds himself saying that Benintendi's power numbers could be even better in Portland's hitter-friendly park Last year Salem had a 90 HR park factor for LHH, Portland 117, McCoy 93

Maybe they'll move Benintendi to Greenville after the game just to screw with him even more.

And Moncada adds yet another double. Now nearly .480 OBP .990 OPS with about a thousand steals.

1.100 OPS, 6% K-rate. Nearly unheard of.
Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio? Salem, VA.

Moncada now has 29 runs scored in 24 games played. For perspective, last year's runs leader was Josh Donaldson with 122 runs in 158 games.
3/4 4R 2 2B, BB, SB
Doubon between 3/4 BB
Benintendi
2/4 3B, SF 2 RBI

Thoughts on Devers' struggles this season?
His K and BB rates look healthy. BABIP is hilariously low, weighed down by a huge Pop%. Not worried at this point... Just curious to see if anybody has any comments.

How much faster do people want to see Benintendi promoted? He's going to be in Portland within a year of being drafted at this rate. Is that not a rapid ascent?

Its a rapid ascent, but people nationally and on this site have long thought A+ was a conservative placement for the reigning best college player and someone who dominated the low minors last year.

Benintendi is the most polished bat after Pedroia was drafted. Pedey started the season in Portland and was promoted to Pawtucket soon. He said minorleague balls had been too easy for him until he played AAA. Benintendi should go to Pawtucket as soon as possible.

Another player that should be promoted right now is Bobby Poyner. Too advanced.
