Even better than a good bunter, it would have been nice to have a good hitter like Mookie Betts against a mediocre left handed pitcher. You mean a good hitter like Mookie who has a .067/.125/.267 slash line against LHP this season? Let's be honest here, he hasn't exactly been tearing the cover off the ball recently.. Make of that small sample what you will. I'll have a good feeling about Mookie stepping in against Chasen Shreve every time. Unless he's bunting.

Would have been better off letting him hit away and hoping for one of his lazy flys to right and move the runner over.

Hanley getting smoked with fastballs. The bases loaded one out inning with no runs was the killer.

Chris Young and his 1.343 OPS vs Miller coming in to PH. About to earn that $13 mil on one swing.

Andrew Miller has a 0.00 ERA. Time to put a dent on that thing and decrease his trade value.

I am not sure he is going to get much to hit here. As good as Miller is.

I guess so, but a bunt serves the exact same purpose had he been able to drop one down. That strike 3 call to Hanley sums up the umps so far this season. Disgusting.

No chance there. Not JBJ's fault.

This ump is killing us tonight. I hope he gets graded poorly for this. Two huge called strike 3s well outside the strike zone.

This ump has made it his mission to piss off each Red Sox hitter individually.
He's succeeding.

people so indoctrinated that they can't see any purpose in any bunt, even if the manager may not have called it......hatred of a bench player so prevelant they couldnt recognize that he wouldn't get pitched to......lacking any real creativity.

I hate complaining about Umps, but this guys zone has been very weird tonight. He allowed almost nothing on the border low but at times extends his zone by inches off the plate.

Was there anyone on the bench to pinch hit for JBJ there?

The anti-Mookie crowd (as in the player with one of the 5 best 22-year old seasons in Red Sox history), needs to cool it.

The same f-ing pitch that was a strike to Bradley was a ball to Gardner. I hope the team complains about this ump.
