While Devers' April was horrendous it seems he never abandoned the approach and it has paid off. OPS up almost .400 points over last month, he's swung the bat very well in May. Very encouraging.

Old friend Derrik "His breakout must be real because the numbers say so just they way they have for guys like Jordan Weems and Carson Blair and any number of other guys for whom the breakout must be real and not just a short hot streak" Gibson is playing for Binghamton.

What are/do players who are assigned to Lowell do during this interregnum? I guess they're in Florida? Do they play games against other organizations?

Old friend Derrik "His breakout must be real because the numbers say so just they way they have for guys like Jordan Weems and Carson Blair and any number of other guys for whom the breakout must be real and not just a short hot streak" Gibson is playing for Binghamton. 340 PA with a 124 wRC+ is not a short hot streak. It's most of a really f-ing good season. He was a former top 10 prospect, he was 24, and his Davenport Peak Translation put him at .252 TAv, which would make him a valuable utility guy or even a second-division starter. It definitely made him worth watching. IIRC, I tossed him in about 40 in my rankings. The suggestion that this was random noise and should have been ignored is the one worthy of sarcasm. The credible explanation was that he did something real and different that worked for a while, and then it didn't. It's interesting to note that his OBP has remained terrific; what's changed is that he's gone back to showing no hard contact at all, when what had made him briefly interesting was that he'd made himself passable in that regard. Maybe he did a lot of weight training before 2014 and couldn't motivate himself to do it again, after the results fell just short of what he'd hoped. Whatever. Blair, meanwhile, continues to rake in AA (putting up consistent .270 DPT) and has done nothing in 161 PA in AAA and MLB. He was on a 40-man roster after his apparent breakout, got a September call-up, then was outrighted, re-signed and invited to ST. Since all that we're trying to do when we look at a good stretch like these is determine whether the player has moved from washout / organizational guy back to prospect, not really a good counter-example.

Henry Ramos just made an incredible catch going into the wall in center.

Haley's been as in control as he was two years ago. He's apparently put his 2015 behind him and is likely re-establishing his legit prospect status.
According to Antonellis, he now has 16 consecutive scoreless innings.

Haley likely done
7IP 1H 2BB 5K
99p/63s 5GO/6FO (He seemed to be pitching higher in the zone than the other times I've seen him).
SeaDogs scored in the bottom of the 7th. 1-0 win game 1.

Ockimey's a dick. There's no need to be showing up every other player in the minors. OK, fan your first two times up, but do you have to hit a double the next two times you make contact? Geesh, give it a break. Nobody needs to slug .863 when you make contact.

Well, "scout," but yeah. I like him a lot save for 1) his frame is so slight that I can't see him hitting for any power, and 2) his arm leaves a little to be desired for short. I think he'll make a very good 2B/SS/3B type in the bigs, but I'm not sure I see him as a guy that starts for a first-division team for a long time. That's not knocking him though - that's a valuable player, especially for the league minimum.

He seems to be outperforming his tool package in general. Hopefully he'll do that all the way to the majors and prove us all wrong.
