To lighten the mood a little, and based on the Masslive article, I propose that we call him Little Jay.

I wasn't saying that hadn't been written anywhere (I'll note that both of those stories appear to be based only on a single interview with the player).

Read your report and found it very interesting. For those of you who haven't followed ashville; I think you would find his scouting reports enlightening

This article, and the words from Groome, seem to back up the scouting reports that suggest he works in the lower range of his FB velocity due to feel and pitchability. Seems like he has a real plan of attack on the mound.

Awesome. He's training with the best the Sox have. Big year coming for Groome. I can almost sense it.

Yeah, we need something very positive from our minor league's in almost the worst way.

Very well could just be the angle and the way he's contorting his face, but he looks a little leaner.

Very well could just be the angle and the way he's contorting his face, but he looks a little leaner. I thought the same, in the facial region, but then his arms and chest still look kind of thick-ish. But that said, potential positive of his elbow flaring up is time to focus on conditioning and strength training.

Improving conditioning is a positive step in his development.

I’m looking forward to Jay showing everyone why he should have been the #1 overall pick in the draft. If I’m him, I’ve got a chip on my shoulder and getting instruction from one of the best in the game is one step to putting together one hell of a year.

Is his father’s legal situation resolved or will that be a lingering distraction? He was facing big-time charges and is probably getting years in jail. That situation isn't going to be over for a while. I imagine Groome's dad isn't a huge part of Jay's life right now.

You think he can just turn the switch to “off” on his feelings? No, but I don't think his dad's situation is going to have a huge affect on this coming season as a pitcher. I'm sure he's looking at this situation from a distance and feels horrible about it.

Working with Sale certainly should have a Positive impact on his career. Maybe the sox should do this with people like Mata and Johnson. AND Houck. Good knows the sox have struggle big time to develop pitching.

Yeah but it’s also not true. Well yes, obviously. The point is that Sale thinks highly of Groome’s stuff.
