That was one brutal game to watch. Pom gets burn time and time again by trying to go up and in. He doesn't have the stuff that hitters will miss up at the letters, especially early in counts. Not looking forward to Wright starting tomorrow. You must not understand the effect FB spin rate. Up and in is exactly where he wants to throw. Up and in has been more of a problem so far this year for Porcello than Pomeranz.

Yeah up and out of the plate is where Pomeranz gets burned. Pitching inside is a strength for Pomeranz, whether it's up or down. If it's up and in the middle of the zone, it's as good as a homerun though. A lot of pitchers can't live here. Not a unusual problem for Pomeranz.

What a dumpster fire of a game day thread. You'd think they lost 15-0 from reading it.

It's crazy to think the Brewers have almost 4X the amount of home runs as the Red Sox. Meanwhile, the Sox have the fewest strike outs in baseball (and of course the 3rd most double plays). What a weird offense.
Xander, Hanley, and JBJ really need to start launching the ball.

Did they call up Ben Taylor? They better get ready for a big bullpenn game. Hot and Humid in Boston and Wright sweats more than anyone ive ever seen and we could have alot of problems with the grip on the Knuckle Ball.

This team still needs a breakout game offensively. If you take away the first inning yesterday (Arieta obviously didn't have it together) they got shut out again.

If you take out the first inning of every game, this pitching staff would probably have one of the lowest ERA's in the history of baseball at this point of the season. Point is, you can't leave out any inning.

My point was that this offense has really been struggling, and it took a pitcher completely falling apart for an inning for them to get anything together. I understand you can change the outcome if you arbitrarily take away one inning from every game but for 8 innings yesterday this team looked exactly like they did for the past two weeks.

Arrieta battled the whole game and didn't fall apart. The offense actually showed a lot of life, it was more of the Sox exposing Arrieta early when he was at his weakest.

Arieta was a mess in the first. He couldn't throw strikes and he was a wild pitch machine. The offense literally did nothing more than they've done the past week after that. Perhaps that is what they need to get things going however.

Wright throwing strikes all over the zone with his knuckle ball. Could be a great sign for him. He is looking awesome so far. Just cruising. Hopefully I don't jinx him.
