Lol, the player the Jazz signed after losing Hayward was Jarebko. There is your consolation prize, have fun with that.

On the season he will average quite a bit more than that. But on a typical night in December with Everyone healthy I'm not so sure on that. Maybe 12-13. He's going to have to fight and take big minutes by his play not allowing them to limit them. He averaged 16.3 minutes in last years playoffs in 17 games. I think this is the year he starts taking Smarts minutes. Could be we will see. His playoff and summer performance didn't translate last year but maybe if will this one.

Keep hearing that it's "paperwork" that's preventing the announcement of Hayward. Can't help but feel that there may be a small move for Mickey (instead of just cutting him). If they know they have to cut him, they are doing a disservice to him by not getting him on the market as soon as possible, no?
Financially, he's not getting much more than the minimum but just roster spots are drying up.
Or . . . I'm over thinking this (wouldn't be the first time).

The new time out rule changes are nice. Down from 9 to 7 and only 2 per team in the last 3 minutes. There should only be 5 timeouts but these changes are good.
Now if they would just eliminate that ridiculous advancement on a time out rule.

Now if they would just eliminate that ridiculous advancement on a time out rule. Yeah it's nice for pace of play. It kind of hurts the Celtics because it's harder to get Isaah out of games late for his defense.

Jerebko is a good fit for Jazz.
I don't think Mickey is holding up anything. Would be surprised to see him not be in G league.

Jabari Bird looked good last night. 8-10 and showed all sorts of ways to score from nice mid ranged pull ups (lost art) to three point range. Will be a nice 2 way contract guy I think.
Jordan Bell sucked for the Warriors by the way...

That's interesting - losing Anderson will hurt... adding 2 guys who aren't great 3 point shooters to Harden who also isn't one in that offense they bombs away will be a weird mix He can't stay on the floor defensively at all against the top teams though, and all 3 of melo, harden and Paul are historically very good catch and shoot guys - Harden's percentages get pulled down by all the tough contested pull ups and paul has never been a big volume guy from 3, and melo also has a habit for putting up tough contested 3s, especially with the shot clock running down. I'm not sure how that team will look defensively, but they're going to put up absurd scoring numbers

KeithSmithNBA says there are "strong indications" that Boston will use 1 of the roster spots on re-signing Gerald Green (would have to be a min deal).

Jordan Bell sucked for the Warriors by the way... Like two games ago Bell put up 5 points, 5 assists, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 6 blocks. Showing that scoring is his only real weakness. Bird looks better than he did in College which is surprising. Maybe he's like Nader.

Also, Abdel Nader signed a 4yr/6Mn deal per Shams Charania.
This could have ramifications for Ojeleye as they'd only have min exception to offer (815K) and high 2nd rounders typically get 1Mn +.
Jackson could get cut and/or another move. Have to do the math to see how that would look.

Yea it could rumors were that Ojeleye was going to get a contract like that, but they gave it to Nader. Interesting. Especially after Brads comments about Ojeleye and his D.

Really happy with the Nader deal - he stayed loyal to the Celtics when he didn't have to be, and I'm glad to see the team reward him.

IF we assume Hayward got the max (ie not discount), then Hayward/Horford/Crowder/Thomas/Tatum/Morris/Brown/Smart/Rozier/Zizic/Jackson plus the hold for Yabusele leaves $1,167,333 in Cap Room.
That would suggest (assuming no other deals): 1. That's like the number for Nader in year 1 2. Theis is signing with a minimum exception (815K)
If the C's want to sign Ojeleye for something more than a min exception (815K) they have 2 do one of the following:
1. Stash Yabusele again (which they've said is not the plan) 2. Release Jackson (they could stretch his dead money - 650K - to give them something close to 2x their current space to split between Nader and Semi) 3. Trade Jackson so they don't have any dead money 4. Trade another player taking in less money in the deal

If I'm understanding correctly, a minimum deal for Semi can only be 2 years (per Ryan Bernardoni and others)

Wow, the thought of having 2 legit shots at Porter and this guy. And to think of it happening right when the rules have been crafted to keep players with the teams that drafted them. Just had a flashback to the summer of "86". Celtics win the championship and draft Len Bias, what could have been. Ouch

Would also push Ayton, Bamba, and Williams (highly rated prospects in their own right - based on early projections) down further should our luck not hold 2 years in a row.

Per Bulpett, the Cs do indeed waive Jackson (though I think he's confused when he says they avoid paying the 650 guarantee).

Any minimum deal can be only 2 years. You don't get full bird rights in two years, hence why top 2nd round picks get bigger deals a lot of the time.
Does the full amount of the deal count against cap or only the amount over the minimum?
