How can Pawtucket be scheduled for two games in 2 hours? That doesn't make much sense.

I think he was still in the batter's box Head? Foot? Back? Seems pretty logical that a HBP took place in the batters box.

Dalbec so far one for ten with six Ks over his first two GCL games.

It was. And attempted to be returned in the same fashion.

I couldn't find the appropriate thread in the forum but it looks like Edgar Olmos disappeared from the Team Roster section. Not sure where he went.

Dalbec so far one for ten with six Ks over his first two GCL games. The swing is not pretty and the timing is off. His bat is not snapping through the strike zone with the same authority he had earlier in the year. He's got a significant amount of rust to knock off, if he is healthy.

I'm honestly not convinced of the health aspect. The surgery was in late May so he had 4-5 weeks max since the surgery. That seems like a really short amount of time to recover and regain the strength in his wrist.

Are you in Fort Myers? You just often post things that you're observing at these games as though you've been watching them, and I just assumed you had milb.tv or something, but how are you seeing him during his rehab? ----- Unrelated, Brock Holt assigned to Pawtucket on rehab. Hopefully this one takes.

GCL Sox lost but a strong game for some of our international guys: Kervin Suarez (4/5), Pedro Castellanos (2/5, 2B, HR), and Everlouis Lozada (2/3, BB).

Historically, hammate surgeries, removed or repaired, have taken about a year after return to the lineup to regain full strength. I remember when that surgery was given as the reason the Sox didn't execute a trade for Dominic Brown. I believe Ryan Kalish also went through a year of significantly reduced power after his hammate surgery. Look for him to be driving the ball next July.

Just an update that I didn't have when doing the gameday thread. The 10am start was apparently for a continuation of a June 15th game. DSL Sox scored 2 in the 10th to win 2-0 (although the main MiLB page says 0-0 - as of right now anyway). Sox also won today's regularly scheduled game.

Devers just hit a bomb. Number 17. What a beast.

I was able to make game 1 of the doubleheader in Hartford today. Second game had a pre-rain rain delay so I headed home early. I have a couple notes from the game if anyone was interested. Although I have zero scouting ability so any assessment I make should be taken very lightly. (Also all velocities were taken from the stadium gun).
Stankiewicz sat around 87-92 on his fastball touching 93. He had a nice outing stats wise but gave up a lot of long loud outs to the warning track. Olt had a nice day in front of his hometown crowd and Devers hit an absolute rocket on a 78mph breaking ball off the right field wall for a long base hit.
Chavis demolished some foul ball home runs on fastballs but the pitcher made him look silly on quite a few breaking balls. Defensively I feel like he plants himself too much before the pitch, greatly reducing his range. I could be completely wrong on that but it seems hard to get a good first step from that stance. That said, he made a nice ranging play to his right and threw a rocket over to first to get an out.
Williams Jerez sat 94-97 and reached back for a little more on one pitch that registered a decent 150mph on that trusty stadium gun. One thing I did notice was he seemed to have a pretty terrible pickoff move. Everybody in the park knew it was coming with many fans correctly yelling "back" before he even released the ball. The throwing position he put himself in with it didn't allow him to get much on the throw either.
Unfortunately it looks like the second game was the much better game to watch with Devers already hitting a home run

"Hartford Bottom of the 6th Pitching Change: Bobby Poyner replaces Elih Villanueva. Jan Vazquez strikes out swinging. Josh Fuentes strikes out swinging. Correlle Prime strikes out swinging." I was pretty meh when he was doing it in Greenville but now Mister Poyner is getting my full attention.
