For all the bitching about Xander, did anyone notice that he was 2 for 4 with a walk?

Doubles/Homers/Triples since 2008 ![](https://i.imgur.com/R4BjQky.png) Classic "Fenway swing." Look at the number of double he hit which might (depending on trajectory) be out at Fenway. Interesting that he has a double off a ball hit to 1B.

Doubles/Homers/Triples since 2008 ![](https://i.imgur.com/R4BjQky.png) He got a double on a ball he hit 3 feet and another on a ball he hit about 100 feet. He must be VERY fast.

The Royals picked up Melky today. Fortunately we miss him, because he seems to always kill the sox.

The Red Sox won the World Series in a year in which Julian Tavarez made 23 starts. Just in case anyone was panicking about the quality of their current 5th starter.
To be fair, while he wasn't exactly top tier quality, I still thoroughly enjoyed every start he made.

For all the bitching about Xander, did anyone notice that he was 2 for 4 with a walk? 2 out of the three times he got cut down on base though. Love the guy and hopefully he'll turn it around, but the b*tching isn't out of line imo.

LOVE listening to Papi cheer them on in the broadcast booth. Wasn't that just a little more enjoyable than talking about David Price and Dennis Eckersley?
Edit- even that double play that Devers hit was 104 mph. It just seems like most balls that he hits are over 100 mph.

Hopefully Pomeranz cruises through his usual 6 innings of quality work.

Gomes just said that the Gyroball was real and something that was tough to face...

Gomes just said that the Gyroball was real and something that was tough to face... Yeah Gomes is really getting hard to listen to. He was always hard to listen to.

Gomes and Timlin have issues - not very smooth, get into boring ruts - Timlin is just too softspoken, his timbre too low (they need to turn up his mic or see where it is positioned better). Eck is my favorite, with Remdog close. They could use a better fill in when Remy and Eck are not available.

When Xander is batting, I think of the line from "League of Their Own" - Kit can't lay off the high ones - she said "but I like the high ones (and she hardly ever hits them). For Xander - "lay off the low outside ones" - he would say "but I love the low and outside ones". And rarely hit them.

Moreland seems to have found his timing and stroke - which would be so great for this offense

Devers looked so smooth turning that double play. Now looked good on 2 double plays. Could get use to seeing this everyday.

So are we seeing our home grown line up settling in....Benny, JBJ, Mookie....Devers, Xander, Dustin, eventually Travis, Vazquez (adding Swihart next year?) with Lin, Chavis and Marrero on stand by? So cool!
