I think this game is Barnes on the road proof now. Maybe the Sox will give Abad pitcher a chance in the 9th.

Nunez is some kind of monster... Glad he is "our" monster!

I guess Kimbrell needs the work? I'm guessing he was already warming when the top of the 9th began.

...not exactly Puig/HanRam, circa 2013, when they carried that Dodgers team, quite a stretch, but Devers/Nunez have given this lineup a proper jolt/support, just when it was critical...

Yeah this is why people hate on John Farrell for bullpen mismanagement. This is a game where Kimbrel should be sitting.

Okay, just asking here, should Kimbrel be on his way to the mound right now? Not sure I agree with this. Farrell just wants to make sure Kimbrel will be unavailable in an unanticipated close game in the near future

Johnny Gomes Buzz term bingo tomorrow night - "swiss army knife" gotta be one of the squares. "steak" "to the people"? " "score change" can be added

And he's throwing a lot of pitches now. Can you warm someone else up genius Farrell?

Kimbrel is about to throw a 20+ pitch inning and be unavailable tomorrow.

The only thing you don't want to see is a lot of pitches. I don't have a problem with that view, I actually thought that when he was coming out of the bullpen, hopefully he can get a couple of quick outs after that walk. Now if Kimbrel isn't available tomorrow because of this non save, than I totally disagree.

Kimbrel is about to throw a 20+ pitch inning and be unavailable tomorrow. You absolutely need to have your best reliever pitching in games in the lowest leverage situations.

FWIW, Farrell is far from the only manager in the game to do this. It's common for a closer to be warm, his team scores 2-3 runs to take away the save situation, and the closer comes in anyway. Not 100% sure of the reason. Maybe it just doesn't make sense to have two pitchers warm with a comfortable lead. But Farrell is not alone in this approach we saw tonight.

Great win - just enough offense (which turned into lots - thanks Nunez!), great pitching by Pomeranz, and we beat Kluber....and we got our Brock Star back (our own swiss army knife - and Gomes' favorite player!)
and we got Rajai Davis!
Only head scratchers...Kimbrel throws 20 pitches in a non-save situation (what would a game be with a Farrell bullpen mgt head question!)...Hanley with 4 Ks

Jordan Bastian @mlbastian Lindor led off with HR in 1st Tuesday. Edwin hit HR in 8th tonight. Toss those out and rest of production was 3-for-54 with 18 K in 2 games.
(that's the quote, but think it is actually only 2 hits, besides the 2 HRs, now that I percolate on that...1 hit the other night - Lindor - and just 3 tonight, right?)
