I just want to say libertine and philbosoxfan keep up the good work. You've been putting such great music on this thread it has been unbelievable and again I'd like to thank you. At the end of September I had had an accident at work where I was hit in the head by a 3-foot piece of steel should have taken my head off or should have killed me but with my thick head and all the years of powerlifting paid off. I was left with no memory, headaches and vertigo and bad vision. Physically still the same able to walk couldn't talk too well. My loss of memory has me so that I don't remember the days or events when my three daughters were born or other major events in my life. But therapies that I've been doing I've been slowly getting better short term memory a lot better than the first day long term memory certain things jog bring to mind certain memories.
I was at the 2013 ALCS game 6 Tigers versus Red Sox when Shane Victorino hit the Grand Slam can't remember that my buddies tell me that Dropkick Murphys played the national anthem and then went right into shipping up the Boston can't remember that. they also said that we saw Erin Andrews at night and that I walked right up to her to say hello and got pictures taken with her don't remember that. But the other day when you guys put Hocus Pocus by Focus that jogged my memory I remembered that and then the J.Geils stuff really blew a hole into my memory following them around New England ,Harford,Providence, Springfield Worcester Boston And lately because of you gentlemen I become a Rory Gallagher fan thank you again and keep up the good work.

I've always figured that for those of us who are still here, God isn't finished with us yet and it's pretty obvious that He (She/It ?) has plans for you. Bless you. I can't say that I followed J. Geils around but, before they were stars I caught them a few times in Western Mass night clubs when I started at UMass. In those days, them, a group called Guns and Butter and another group with a violin lead were the big 'locals'. The three groups I did 'follow around' were pretty varied musically. Jethro Tull, Jimi Hendrix and The Moody Blues. I was pretty fortunate in that I had an in-law with ummm Italian connections and could get primo tickets free pretty much anyplace in New England. Somewhere in the back of my brain, I think I smoked with the JG Band at one of the clubs. All of them were exceptionally talented, not just Magic Dick. Ian Anderson came to a party one night at a house I was renting and I had another great encounter with him several years later where he recalled the party (long story). Really, really nice guy.

Sorry to hear about the accident and memory loss. Glad to hear it is getting better. Sometimes with these type of brain injuries recovery is a slow process. Good luck!
Glad we turned you on to Rory. Simply one of the best rock guitarists of all time (that many never heard of).
Here is a band who will never be in HoF(™) but are in my personal HoF. Been around for almost 30 years and only had one minor hit with the song Space Lord in the late 90's...Monster Magnet. Their early stuff (late 80's to mid 90's) was the perfect synthesis of metal and psychedelic music. It is like musical nirvana for me.

Just for the fun of it... Share your opinions. Best male vocalist: Orbison Best Female Vocalist: Ronstadt (although Streisand is tempting here) Best lead guitar: Hendrix (Vai is probably more technically proficient but lacks 'soul') Best rhythm guitar: Clapton Best bass Guitar: Entwistle (The Who, but I wouldn't argue anybody else's opinion here) Best drummer: Keith Moon (ditto) Best Keyboards: Emerson Best harmonica: Magic Dick Best performer: Stevie Ray Vaughn although I'm also partial to Willie Nelson and Albert King Best group: Beatles Best harmony group: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Best Rock group: J. Geils Band Best song writer: Dylan Most influential: Dylan Greatest Song: Bohemian Rhapsody Favorite song: Mustang Sally Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck Best piano solo: The The - Uncertain Smile (by Jools Holland and that is Johnny Marr playing guitar as well) One of my favorite bands that no one has ever heard of.

The whole concept of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just irks me. I've heard really crappy things about the guy who founded it. Who made him the owner of all rock and roll music and king of who gets in? I've always thought that a real rock and roll guy would just tell them to f off and not show up. The concept of a rock and roll hall of fame is the antithesis of rock and roll. Too true. I mean, just looking at 2017: ELO Joan Baez Journey Pearl Jam Tupac Yes I’d say one of those counts as rock’n’roll. If this is just sort of a museum of popular music, I’m all for it, and I’d love to go. But let’s not imagine induction means anything. I’d add to the whaaa?? list of absentees: New York Dolls.

May as well since the equivalent of what the rock and roll hall of fame is doing would be if the baseball hall of fame started inducting softball and cricket players.

I mean, we probably can all agree that's what it is, and we can probably all agree that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sounds a lot cooler than Popular Music Hall of Fame on a number of levels including practicality and marketing reasons.
My take is either just enjoy it for what it is or ignore it.

I get what you're saying, but not quite the same. "Man, were you there that time Jennie Finch came out of the bullpen as a surprise guest pitcher for the Red Sox?" - then yeah. Also, the lines of "Rock and Roll" are so much blurrier than what is baseball and what is not baseball.

I don't care where you draw the line for what is and isn't rock'n'roll as long as we all agree that Donna Summer and ABBA are on the other side of that line. ABBA in, Lemmy out? Not...rock...n...roll. QED.

Having a "Hall of Fame" for something so clearly subjective is obviously silly, but the "Cleveland Rock and Roll Museum" probably wouldn't sell as many tickets. It's a really great museum.

My hot take here is that new music is actually very good and old music is actually very bad.
