Ankle sprains can take a while depending how high up the ankle it is. If it's a high ankle sprain, it's going to take a while to heal.

We have a shitty lineup today and probably tomorrow too. Núñez at DH and Swihart at first, no Moreland, no Pearce. What an amazing game to have seen! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) You better lie about it if you left early! haha I did not leave, barely left my seats all game!

Wow...was out speaking at a local museum. Got in the car and tuned in in time to hear them tie it. Got home and turned it on Roku in time to watch them win!

The Blue Jays fans were all standing up and clapping during the Shipping up to Boston song going into the ninth which was hilarious. I don’t know if i’ve ever seen another team’s fans do that.

And it ends up injuring someone else.

Wow...was out speaking at a local museum. Got in the car and tuned in in time to hear them tie it. Got home and turned it on Roku in time to watch them win! I had amazing luck the last three days.
Thursday I set the game up on DVR because I was being interviewed in my living room for a documentary film (for a film entitled Films in the Living Room). When the two-man crew left, I just turned on the Sox game live; my plan was, as usual, to look at the play by play online and catch up later with what I'd missed.
I was unaware that the game had not recorded (something the Xfinity DVR will do once in a while). Furthermore, what I was watching was the live feed that I had set up and (without remembering having done so) paused. The DVR had filled up an hour of live buffer and then taken itself off of pause.
So I started watching the game "live," but I was an hour behind without knowing it. And I (and both my roommates) saw the whole rally culminating in the Mookie slam. It was only when I tried to rewind to see it again, and I couldn't, that we realized that we weren't live after all.
Had I not paused the game before turning the TV off, not only wouldn't have I seen the Mookie PA, it wouldn't have been on my DVR to rewatch! And of course I would have been spoiled completely by it being talked about an hour later.
Today I went upstairs after the 1st and started reading in bed, hoping to start falling asleep so I could get a much-needed nap (which I in fact just woke up from). I finally started nodding off so I got up to take care of business, and then quickly checked online to see how we'd been doing. What? Down 1-0 after 6? Heck, the nap can wait, let's watch that live! Good call, eh! Again, had I napped then, I would have just looked at the game log and seen what happened long after the fact.

Pretty stunning - I was just looking at the active roster. The Red Sox are flying high with starters Leon (c), Nunez (2nd), Holt (3rd), Pearce (DH), and a bench of Lin, Travis and Swihart....with pitchers Velazquez, Workman, Poyner, Thornburg and Brasier playing key roles.
At some point, the loss of Pedey, DL stints of Vazquez and Devers (and of course Beni out on bereavement for a short stay), Wright and Pomeranz should take a toll - and now ERod a concern.....but JD, Mookie, Xander, and the other mashers are overwhelming the opponents.
Cora to me is playing a major role in rebuilding the clubhouse and returning the fun.
What an amazing season so far - what fun!

Yankees won in Cleveland. The Indians go for a split tomorrow with hot Bauer on the mound against Tanaka.

I'd like to be a fan but he's made it impossible. Having too good a AAAseason to have you not conclude...it's mental. Getting doubled up can't have done much to help with his skipper. Needs to pull it together very quickly but if Philips is shaping up in Lowell inf. help is on the way and too bad Lin had his chance.

Memories..
Anyone remember when the flag went all the way to the field and the little triangle where X grannie landed was an interesting triangle ?
I remember balls sometimes bouncing off the wall, hitting the back of the pole, bouncing back to the other side of the triangle wall the onto the field 90 degrees from where the fielders were headed. I also remember Jimmy Piersall who I think was the best Sox defensive CF until JBJ, periodically sitting behind the flag poll and throwing pebbles against the wall while the Sox made pitching changes.

To be fair, Vasquez, at least offensively, isn't really a loss and we should only be one more game without Benny and 2 more games without Devers.

Thank you. Very fond memories of Jimmy Piersall the awesome CF (my hero, my position) and him doing many interesting activities. He was great with kids, at least with me and my pals, and fun to watch. In my earliest trips to Fenway I thought Dom DiMaggio was really special too, but was too young to really appreciate how good he was.

We actually had the Piersall family over for an off-season Sunday? afternoon and dinner. They had a ton of children and lived in Framingham. I was maybe 7 or 8 at the time so I don't remember much. My mother was a huge baseball fan and bumped into him at a mall, lol, she wasn't at all shy. I was a Jackie Jensen/Ted Williams fan at the time. Dimagio was before my recollection and when he played, I was a Boston Braves fan. Spahn & Mathews were my first baseball heroes. I still remember Aaron (both of them), Joe Torre, Joe Adcock, Felix Mantilla & Joey Jay. I probably saw Sain and Logan but no recollection there.

So Barnes is definitely unavailable today. Kelly is most likely unavailable after pitching the past two days (imo I wouldn't want him in high leverage right anyways).
If the Sox have a small lead by the 7th inning, today would be a great time to audition Brasier or Thornburg for a more high leverage inning. I hope Brasier gets the first crack at it.
You still have Workman and Hembree available, but I hope either one of Thornburg or Brasier gets a chance today.

Al Hirshberg and his family lived around the corner from us and were my folks best friends. Met Piersall a number of times and he was also my idol, when I was in the 5th or 6th grade Iused to go to the nearby ballfield where the older kids (8th graders) were taking BP. They would tell me I could get a turn at bat if I shagged balls for them..and about half the time they kept their word. I never told them that I'd rather catch fly balls than hit, honed my skills copying Jimmy.
ALso Piersall was very competitive and my Mom, who was a superior athlete and he would get into really heated ping-pong matches at the Hirshberg's place on the cape. No quarter given and trash talking was part of the game...young ears burning lol.

I was a baseball fan at the time but my family didn't move from Chicago to Boston (Framingham actually) until 1957. I was a die hard Sox fan already, White Sox that is. My heroes were Nellie Fox and Louis Aparacio. It wasn't until 1971 when Louis game to Boston to finish his career, that I switched my allegiance. I very fondly remember Lynn, Rice, and Evans. The latter was my favorite. The guy had a freakin' arm!!! I do also though remember a 4 game series with the Yankees at Fenway. As I recall the Sox had a 4 game lead and totally and massively self-destructed. At one point Evans set up under a fly ball for a routing out and lost it in the lights. The ball hit him in the head. I can't think about that series to this day without becoming depressed.

I loved Jimmy Piersall. During the off season back then they had to make money some other way. He became a spokesman for Cain’s. On day my father took me to Augusta Maine to meet him at an A & P market. The deal was that you had to grab a jar of Cain’sSandwich Spread and show it to him and then he would give you his autograph. I was 10 at that time and I remember him towering over me with a great tan (in January). He was really nice and I was thrilled.
He would position Ted Williams in the outfield, although sometimes Ted would ignore him. Anyway he would cover Ted’s ass and make the catch himself. You are right, he was the best center fielder they ever had until JBJ came along. #37 When he played for the Mets, he ran his 100th home run around the bases backwards.
Ps. Jackie Jensen is the most under rated outfielder they ever had.

Jackie lead the league 3 times in RBI’s, once in SB’s, hit 35 HR’s in 1958 and was the league’s MVP that year.
He was also known for his incredible fear of flying.

I'm not old enough to have seen JJ, but, born in '59, and one of many who grew up in the 60's, where the Impossible Dream team, at 8 yos, got me hooked, forever, I'd always though the same ("most underrated OFer") of Reggie Smith.
(not to mention, when my three brothers and I - 4 of us, separated by less than 5 years oldest to youngest - would play 2 on 2 whiffle ball, in the backyard, where we'd choose MLB teams, and mock out the batting order and players, including their stances and swings, when a sib and I would get to pick the "Red Sox", we'd set the order, so I'd get to hit as Reggie, since I was a budding switch hitter, and his stance and swing were pretty cool to mirror...
...and, I had a handful "auto-HRs", as #7, which, as everyone from the neighorhood, back in the day, who played our field, knew, was out of the yard, over the hedges, across the street, on "Mrs Evan's roof"! )
