Some thoughts ...
1a) I missed Pedro identifying Kimbrel's mechanical flaw because I keep on forgetting to set up the post-game separately from the game on my DVR. Nevertheless, I was 100% certain that Cora felt that a mechanical problem had been identified and fixed, or else he wouldn't have used him.
1b) In a weird way, the four-pitch walk to Gurriel was a good sign. Kimbrel lost his mechanics and was missing the zone by a mile. He collected himself and found the mechanics again; his next four pitches were called strikes, and two pitches later the game was over. That makes me more confident that he can sustain correct mechanics than if he hadn't lost them and corrected them.
2) People forget that CV is a mini-JBJ: capable of long stretches where he's helpless and decent ones where he's actually quite a good hitter for his position. While .227 / .261 / .409 is on the surface unimpressive, he's looked rather better than that, and CV getting into one of his good streaks renders the pinch-hit-for-the-catcher-twice strategy unnecessary. You can wait till the late innings and do it once.
3) People were correctly psyched about Steven Wright as a post-season relief force. We didn't have him and you saw what happened anyway.
4) Looking forward to Rafi wreaking some more Deverstation on opposing pitchers. He apparently needs 3 more RBI to break the record for post-season RBIs by a player 21 or younger.
Added the link. Best line: "The near-biblical redemption of David Price is a better local sports story than the redemption of John Lackey in 2013. Shoot, it’s a probably better tale than “The Shawshank Redemption.” "

Winning 3 in a row in Houston is almost impossible. This team is just special.

What a season. Way to go Sox and especially Price. I couldn’t believe I was watching him have the same stuff he used to kick the Sox’s ass with. They just smoked two 100 win teams in their own buildings, amazing.
Seems like a distant memory now, when this team had a bunch of guys that were hard to root for (oh,hi Carl).
Hope they grab the opportunity by the balls in the WS now!

No way in hell we get 6 innings from Price tonight. And I don't fault him for that. We've been lucky to have pulled out most of the major pitching dice rolls but we also paid a price potentially during Porcello's start and Sale's last start. Now we've done the same thing to Price. We've made all of our top[ pitchers relievers to a degree. I'm not expecting that to work tonight either for Price. Fortunately this team appears to be able to hit anyone. I like our chances against any team at this point. If we win tonight it's got to be from Erod being the occasional stud he sometimes has been. If he or Price were right handed I'd like our chances more. We probably need to score 5-6 runs to have a chance to win though and that's a tall order against Verlander. This made me chuckle.

Other teams that beat two 100-win teams in the same postseason:
2004 Red Sox 98 (Cardinals 105 and Yankees 101). Road record: 4-2. Longest win streak on road: 4. 2003 Marlins 91 (Yankees 101 and Giants 100). 3-2 with a 2-game streak. 2001 Yankees 95 (Mariners 116 and A's 102). 4-0 with a 4-game streak. 1998 Padres 98 (Braves 106 and Astros 102). 4-1 with a 3-game streak. 1988 Dodgers 94 (A's 104 and Mets 100). 4-2 with a 2-game streak.
So indeed, we're the first team in MLB history to win 5 straight post-season road games against 100-win teams. And the first 100-win team to win two series against 100-win teams.

So, after hitting
.400 / .478 / .629 in 46 PA
with RISP in the Yankees series, it was clear that we wouldn't be able to sustain that against the best pitching staff in MLB.
And in a way we couldn't. Nobody hits .400. We had to settle for
.342 / .490 / .684 in 49 PA.
Overall: .370 / .484 / .658 in 95 PA.

I am as happy as happy gets for our Red Sox and Sox nation!!!
BUT for JBJ and Price to be the hero's and be vindicated is the whip cream, cherry and nuts on top!! So happy for those guys to have pulled thru in the clutch!!

So the Astros never won another game after the cheater got removed. I wonder if there is anything to it. Or maybe it's just that the Red Sox were free to run wild with their cheating once they were no longer under his watchful eye. [/sarc]

Probably in Saturday's paper, though.
Devers will need the RBI's to happen Tuesday because he turns 22 Wednesday. He's getting old.

Jen McCaffrey Verified account @jcmccaffrey
Cora says they realized recently that Kimbrel was tipping his pitches. Kimbrel says he got a text from Cora’s close friend Eric Gagne last night who noticed something and wanted to pass it along to Kimbrel and LeVangie for them to work on.

Which, interestingly, was on during this Game!

That win was worth about $210 million. Not my money. If I was a billionaire, I’d be good with that.

At last Eric Gagne contributed something to a Red Sox World Series appearance. Only took him 11 years..... ....was that mean? I feel like it was mean.... Sorry Gagne, I have had seven hours of sleep over the last two days...

In 2004, I met the woman who is now my wife (in Portland, ME) in 2007, she took a job in Wisconsin and we moved there. in 2013, she got a job in NH, and we moved back to New England Last year, she got a job in Albany and we moved here (It was September, so the magic couldn't take force until this year)

If they win this year, in 2018, let’s just hope Henry doesn’t sell Mookie Betts in the offseason

When my alarm went off for work today I had the exact same feeling as I did when the TBS camera guy reacted like Reddick’s flyout was going to land in Kansas.
