Hey, more guys should do it. In fact big guys should do it as much as any. They have more than enough power. Greater bat to ball speed and accuracy awaits. If the Thumper could do it.... Haha I agree with you it's just seemingly rare in this day and age and looks funky at first glance. As strikeouts go up and up and up, it's just a matter of time before everyone comes back from the land of I Only Want To Hit Home Runs. He's ahead of the curve.
See Yankees as an example. See playoff performances as another. (Twins) See Red Sox and Dodgers in recent seasons as others.

He's put together the best first season for a prospect in the farm for at least the last 20 years. There is no doubt he will be starting the year in Portland next season. I've never seen a kid this good this fast, the end of the season top 100 list if they do not include him they should find new gigs. It was like when mookie was in the mlb before he even made a top 100 list. Yorke has to be a top 30 prospect right now. Maybe if he rakes in spring training he starts in Portland but given the A+ season is almost over it would be close to skipping a level. I am already looking forward to watching him in Portland next year even if it takes him a little while to get there. It is a lot of fun to see a guy like him doing what he is, I always say about these guys just force their way thru the system like Mookie, Xander and Raffy did. I was hoping for more of the same with Casas but hopefully next year he makes some progress. Yorke has been the most impressive I can remember since following this site for about 16 years now. Take a look at the under 20 prospects in the system, wow is that some talent. Yorke needs to be in the top 3 here and top 50 nationally to start next year. Casas was slowed by the lost COVID season and the olympics, and he is still a 21 yr old in AA ball

Casas was slowed by the lost COVID season and the olympics, and he is still a 21 yr old in AA ball I know and I get it but it would have obviously been better if he raked at every level and wasn't slowed down by covid but Yorke had to deal with it also. Casas only full season in low A his OPS was 820 at 19, compare that to what Yorke is doing and what Mookie, Xander and Raffy all did in the minors and he isn't in the same conversation. I was hoping he would be but right now he is looking like he could be very good but not great. I remember Lars Anderson all to well and I don't think we will see a repeat of that with Casas but they have to prove it at every level. Just look at Jeter Downs this year, his stock has crashed. I hope I am wrong and he is an all star level player at peak but right now he isn't playing like a future all star with a slugging % of 412. In context with where this conversation started he has never come close to putting up the numbers Yorke is putting up, that is a guy who is in the majors at 21 and a cup of coffee at 20 isn't out out the question. That's what both Xander and Raffy did. It is a very big IF but if he continues to hit the way he has he will sale thru and see Boston next September.

What Casas is doing is pretty remarkable, I know the slash line isn't eye-catching but still a 118 wRC+ in your first taste of AA ball as a 21 year-old remains impressive but most importantly, cutting down his strikeouts while walking more is the best development you could hope for: We know he has power and making contact while swinging at pitchs in the zone is the best way to untapped and he's building the right foundation to just do that.

I think Mr Casas may have read my opinion of him so far in the minors and decided to do something about it. Kudos big guy!!

This is pretty minor in light of the ~4 miles of home run Casas hit last night, but… how is his defense? Just curious.

Does Casas hit to the opposite field? Will he be able to use the wall? Every home run I have ever seen from him is a monster pull job.

He's got a natural uppercut. Jim Thome used to do that to baseballs.

Wow what a monster
We could have a prime Jim Thome clone on the Red Sox

Over his last 200 PA, Casas has a 15% Walk rate vs a 17% K rate and an IsoP of .199 good for a .844 OPS despite having a .286 BABIP If your slugging 1st baseman sports a 55 hit tool, you're in a very good place

I think they are both top 10 prospects in mlb . Casas maybe top 5. Yorke could be a 70 hit tool and elite work ethic And Casas is gigantic, plus plus power, good defense, and above average hit tool
