I'll be the contrarian. I had no major issues with the story ending. Good series, I enjoyed it throughout.

Adding. Since they killed off the majority of the likable characters and put the remaining ones in less than ideal scenarios, I don't see any likely successful spin-offs. Best one I can see is Arya in the west but she doesn't seem like enough of a strong character to carry a series.

Don't venture to this part of the thread often, but I'm still furious with the last season of GoT. I thought the entire season starting with the battle of Winterfell was just a rushed, incoherent mess that looked exactly like it was, a rush job so the writers could work on other projects.
I'll admit I hate Bran being king and Sansa just randomly declaring independence while the other nations just sat there, but the way they got there is so much more infuriating.
I could write an essay as to all the problems I had with this season. It was easily the best show ever created.
One thing that also really irked me was that the super-popular characters had plot armor so thick it'd make Podrick blush. GRRM did a wonderful job making us feel like no one is ever safe. Not D&D.

One depressing thought though, how great of a final villain would have Greyworm been? Kills Jon Snow after killing his queen and then he and his unsullied ravage Westeros. No intention of ruling, just a desire to lay waste the 7 kingdoms because the unsullied and the Dothraki have no leadership or purpose and are seeking vengeance. It also wouldn't have been expected that he would become the series final arc villain. It just works for me on so many levels.

It's like they took a show like Mad Men or Breaking Bad and turned it into The Avengers in the last season.

It's like they took a show like Mad Men or Breaking Bad and turned it into The Avengers in the last season. I tried to find a good gif with all the characters that were stuck at the frozen lake. It looked very Avengers to me. I do want to reiterate how funny/silly it is that they couldn't think of a king, yet Gendry Baratheon is sitting right there and no one says Jon's real name. I really couldn't believe how Davos, Sam, Arya, Sansa, and Bran said virtually nothing to defend Jon, who was mysteriously captured after killing Daenerys with no one around and Greyworm totally wouldn't have slaughtered on the spot.
