I have to ask what are you growing? That is a ton of plants.

Those dogs are pretty darn cute.
I’m an unabashed animal lover. We just took in a rescue dog last week and I can’t imagine that someone would have not wanted this incredibly affectionate dog. She’s been with us a week and has already made a permanent place in our home and our hearts.
It’s a pretty special thing to foster and love an animal that you know you won’t have long term. Kudos.

Behind my wife Sue are 125 different tomato plants, 30 pepper plants, 8 eggplants, 1 ground cherry. It is my heirloom seed saving, flavor evaluating, and variety creation through Mendelian crossing R&D laboratory - we use the driveway because that is where the sun shines - oh - also 15 straw bales, 10 with tall tomatoes (20 plants), and 5 with beans, squash and cukes.
The puppy thing = we have two rescue dogs, two rescue cats - and are just getting in to fostering (these two pups are so far a very positive experience - Mookie is more cuddly, Betts - the little girl - more aggressive!

Yeah I mean, who doesn't love a good animal story? Good on you and your wife Soxfan. Take care of them and they'll love you forever.

Great to see the human side of the regular posters on here, their are some very interesting and impressive individuals.
Soxfan correct me if I am wrong but you do have books written and do seminars on tomato growing right? Is their someone else on here that is also in to gardening?

Thanks, voice - yes, I wrote Epic Tomatoes and Growing Vegetables in Strawbales - working on my third - and travel about talking gardening a few dozen times a year (retired from 25 years in Pharma) - the lovely woman holding the puppies, my wife and best friend for 40 years, is the talented one of the bunch - she makes memory and T shirt quilts.
So I do live and die with the Red Sox (sounds dramatic!) - but not really - I am just a long, long time fan that feels very lucky to be a Boston sports fan!

That's like farm level production in my area. I grow like 25-30 tomato plants four different kinds, squash, green beans, peas, couple kinds of cucumbers, bunch of different peppers, and for the first time corn.
I get so many tomatoes I can't give them away. So many five gallon buckets worth it's crazy. That's why I had to ask about the plants. Your going to have a massive yield. That's no average garden. Good stuff. Nothing like good fresh tomatoes and homemade sauce that cost almost nothing.

Keeps me out of trouble!

I was with Wyeth which became Pfizer down in Sanford for about 5 years.

Started at SmithKline and French in Phila in 1984, which became SK Beckman, then SK Beecham - got severed in the merger in 1992, came to Glaxo which became Glaxo Wellcome, then the merger with SKB. Got severed again in 2008 but was at that point happy (was a chemist, pilot plant manager, project manager, business project redesign director, then lean sigma trainer). Went back to consult for a few years, finally said goodbye for good in 2010.

He's a vet now.
