ugh, the lineup today...and against last year's cy young winner We may lose but today's lineup doesn't upset me. Cora is obviously trying to get as many Rh hitters in the lineup as possible against Snell. JD is unavailable,Devers played 18 innings yesterday and is due a day off,Beni isnt hitting any LHP. Who would you have him start knowing all of these things. I also assume that their analytics suggest going righty. Don't really believe this is a get-away line-up.

Putting Vasquez in the 2 hole is frankly weird. I don't think Benny and Devers should all have the same days off either, especially with JDM out. The Sox will have to make due, but man is this going to be tough to score against one of the bests in the AL in Snell today.

Why the reluctance to start Mike Shawrayn? He's been called up for how many days? If I'm Sox, I'd see how many other 'chavis' spark is out there. Sox needs help. Quit starting mediocre retreads. Doing same thing over and over will not produce different outcome.
I'm glad to see Marco get the early opportunity. I think he's our 2B next year.

Betts continues to disappoint. No one wants to talk about it. Good thing we didn't extend him. He is not a once a life time player like Mike Trout. At some point, JBJ needs to be evaluated for entire skill set and not just on defense. He's feeding off everyone else's offense. Each player has to be accountable and for an outfielder, that includes his offense.

JDM needs to get on the field if he's planning on opting out. He now projects at 2.9 WAR for the year.

JD will not opt out after 2019. He'll still be making $23.750M in 2020. In 2021, his salary drops to $19.375M. It seems more likely that he'll opt out after 2020.

Eovaldi setback. I would like to give Shawaryn a chance to see what he can do in a start; more upside than watching Weber and Smith

There's teams with money in the AL who can offer the DH position. The Jays, the White Sox, the Mariners. He'll get more of a guarentee with more years and dollars imo.

Not much you can do if you're determined to go with righties. And I like Nunez at 3B a heck of a lot more than at 2B. I just hope Cora is willing to bring in the lefties as pinch hitters and not doing his "full day off" thing.

I think this team has warrented the critisism. Bring it on. It's what makes seasons great and draws interest. Can the Sox pull through this until the end? Can they do what the Nationals couldn't do and leapfrog two really great teams in the Rays and MFY for the division? Great story lines, just like last year. I hate it when people say the Sox dominated from beginning to end last year too and use that as the starting point as to why they hate to see people complaining. There was a actual division race until that 4 game sweep of the MFY in August. Even THAT team was worthy of critisism before they stomped their throats on the MFY to that point and made it a non race. After that happened, it was over. The race was over. The GDT were dead besides me and a couple of other posters making bad or good comments about the way they played a meaningless game in September. I believe sports all are about reactions and that brings the passion and entertainment to the game. I'd watch baseball regardless, but it's what draws me even closer to the game. The Red Sox went into that series with the NYY ahead 5.5 games in the standings with just 53 games remaining in the season. Boston is currently 6 games behind the NYY in the race for the AL East with nearly twice as many (97) games remaining. Why am I not surprised you'd view the former as a 'actual race' and the later as the end of days. Your shtick is lame...

Ohh so you mean there was still a race, especially if the Yankees had swept the Sox instead of the Sox sweeping the Yankees? There's nothing but truth here. Add- This year is still a race too, but it's A LOT harder with having to surpass two teams to do it.

ERod is the pitcher that tends to get a lot of run support. Let's hope that holds - they may need it today. ERod's pitches are looking mighty good to the Tampa hitters.

Yeah arguably your worst lineup of the year and you're down 2 runs to the reigning Cy Young award winner. Getting one win at home against the Rays in a 4 game set would be atrocious.

The results never matches the stuff and peripherals. E-Rod will never escaped the 5th starter moniker
